XJ 11inch lift Turbo? 350 swap?
Hey Everybody, what i got here is a fun project, plan was to build it and not drive it until it was finished. BUT..... theres always a kink, blew the motor in my car so i had to drive the jeep inbetween steps of the build. only build it as much as i can between when i got off work and be able to make it driveable befor work the next day so lets say it was a pain.
I picked up this 1995 jeep XJ for $600 of some guy from a friend of a friend kinda deal. it ran and drove perfectly fine, just needed a battery and alittle rust repair (rockers, floor pans). the body otherwise was spotless.
So now for the build, so far ive got my self sittin level at 11 inches of lift front and rear. I know alot of you will say its to tall but thats what i wanted, so thats how i built it. Im building it for the mud and some trails, but not gonna be a trailer queen shes gonna be on the road often enough.
Started out with a set of dimond plate bumpers with a little fender cutting, cut it rough but left my self half an inch so i can go do a clean cut where i want it .
stock tweeking out the suspetion gonna be my befor in befor and after!!!
Keep in mind im building this as i get the money and driving it on the road as is, Kinda sketchy always get looks from the cops well actualy everybody haha
I added Mj 4.5 inch lift leaf springs givin me 6.5inch of lift. and 2 inch lift shackels
Now sprayed with bed liner and some stenciled writeing just temperarory fun until i go over the whole jeep with color, also added a shackel relocation bracket, and roof rack with 4 hella 500 FF lights in the front and 2 hella 50FF lights in the rear. got a short rack so i can keep the rack when i chop the rear.
So now i know its lookin pretty funny at the moment but like i said its a project,
Need to get:
shocks
2.5inch blocks
sway bars
TIRES!!!
paint
floor pans
Now once thats all finished up i need to figure out what i wanna do with the motor, i either wanna turbo it, stroke it out, or put a 350 in it, btw i already have the engine mounts and the headers designed specialy for the cherokee.
PS. I KNOW I NEED TIRES, I WANNA FINISH THE LIFT BEFOR I PUT TIRES UNDER IT.

Here is my Jeep on an 11 inch lift with 35s. It is a RockKrawler 8 inch kit with a 3 inch spacer. I will say that you could only drive with the 350 power with sway bars. I don't have sway bars, and it is "squirrelly" at full throttle with the 4.0 off road.
I have come close to flipping at 40mph racing down washes here in Arizona. But it drifts with a ton of sway like no other. This is 11 inches of lift...

lol That much lift makes those tires look like 31s.
If you don't mind me asking... Why do you need so much lift if you acknowledge the downfalls?

Hope the pictures work now i think i fixed it. please let me know! and i know theres dissadvantages of being lifted 11 inches but idk its just how i wanted to build it, as for sway bars i wanna build some mounts and swaybars for it cause like you said they gets squirrely with out them. had a couple scares. Your jeep looks sweet man, i cant wait to finish mine.

I'm sorry, I intended to be positive about it but...
Man, that's just dangerous. I really hope you stay below the speed limit on the highway.

I wanted a big lift that evolved into what you see here.First off it was an 8 inch kit with 33s. Then I wanted 35s. I point out the downfalls, but there is more benefit to being this tall. First off, the ground clearance is stellar, the 35s do NOT rub at all, plus if is easy to work on the bottom of the Jeep in the sitting position. Plus the flex at this height makes my Cherokee pushed way past the smaller lifts you normally see.
It took some getting used to the quirks of the Jeep, and I don't regret going this far with the suspension. This is a cross between JeepSpeed, and crawling. It will cruise 45mph over large river rock like it is a flat road.
Here is the flex you can get at 11 inches tall, and some photos to point out what size rocks make crawling fun...
