the white xj

Well I just joined so I figured that would post up my current project. Its a white 95 4dr that i pickup off a friends a ex girlfriend. She brought to me to be fixed for clunking noises...and then i ended talking her into selling it to me.

It had 3'' lift already on it and it consisted of spacers, blocks, shackles on stock shocks, brakelines, and the sway bar links were cut.

Pic of when it was purchased:
http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/k...gwhecdghui.jpg

I had the RE 3.5" super flex and the RC 3'' aal sitting in my garage waiting to go on my 88. So i got to work replacing the lift. I used the RC 3" coils up front and used some s10 leaves inconjuction with the 1.5 shackle out back. Sold the 2'' spacers and the aal for some cash. i used thr RC 9000's all the way around.

I put 4 baja's on the roof and 2 hella 500's on the bumper:

ruff88xj 04-14-2010 09:26 PM

after scrouging on CL i came across a rear swing out with reciever and d-rings so jumped on it:
http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/k...xj/024-1-1.jpg

then i put on the C4x4 hooks and brackets from my 88 up front. Then i did some wheeling in the woods out behind the house.

The camo on the 88 I'm assuming, the white on the 95 needs to be repainted. I haven't decideD on what to paint it.

ruff88xj 04-27-2010 12:05 PM

She's been down for the the week as 90% of the brake system is being replaced for one reason or another. The last thing to go on is the master cylinder and that'll be tonight hopefully. I put on the YJ front brake lines for an extra 3" of clearence just in case.

I ordered 4 of the treadwright guarddogs (31x10.50) and they should be here next week.

TheGreatGazoo 04-27-2010 09:12 PM

COOL I'M really digging the camo

lol.... these are Guard Dogs from Treadwright:thumbup:

xjoffroad 05-01-2010 07:37 PM

let us know how the re-treads work out. I wouldn't trust my family in a rig with them

ruff88xj 05-01-2010 09:38 PM

These will be the 2nd set of tires ive gotten through treadwright. The first set being the atg's 235/75r15 and I was extremely impressed with them. Shelled with while I was arizona. If take you of them like you should a normal tire they'll be problem free

ruff88xj 05-07-2010 11:03 PM

got the tires mounted today

i took'er out for a spend after mounting them... my first impressions are good.... I need to trim up front and possibly throw my RE 3.5" coils in also.

I'm also looking for a better set of disconnects, the RE Gen II's are pain in the ***. problay looking at the jks's.

Planning on going up to bundy hill next weekend with a friend from detroit to give his cj-5 and my XJ and really good shakedown before we go up to drummond Island for the jeep Jamboree:thumbup1:

ruff88xj 05-28-2010 04:07 PM

Havent done to the jeep lately, moslty DD duties. Gonna attempt to get a lot done this weekend. Some maintence items like oil change and coolant system stuff. I need to trim the Front fenders. Im in the process of making rock sliders out of some schedule 40 pipe the i have laying in the barn (ive got one side nearly complete).

The pick n pull in columbus is having is semi annual half off sale. So i picked up a 8.25 29spl to replace the 27spl.

http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/k...s/e78453df.jpg

Plans are Aussie locker and disc brakes in the coming future.

wolverine 00 xj 05-29-2010 06:44 AM

Looks good! Keep at it!

ruff88xj 05-30-2010 05:00 PM

Did a cooling system flush, t-stat, and new gatorback serpintine belt. also swapped to full set of gauges. I was attempting to go doorless but at 2am i decided to give up as both of my t-40 torx bit broke on the first bolt.

Still need to trim up front.

nismo_2005 05-30-2010 05:56 PM

looks like a nice rig. whenever we both get a chance we should meat up. i would love to check out the treadwrights in person i have been thinking thats what i am going with when i get lifted.

clean rig its nice to see a rig thats only a few miles from me lol.

ruff88xj 05-30-2010 06:34 PM

I'd recommend the treadwrights to anyone. This is my second set from them and I'm just a impressed as I was with the first set. I'm open most weekends we'll just have to set up a time to meet lol

nismo_2005 05-30-2010 07:04 PM

they got any decent jeeps up there right now?

ruff88xj 05-30-2010 08:32 PM

a bunch of 96 and older... there was a 2 door that was all beat to hell. most of them have 4.0L's, 231's, and 8.25 27spline's. and few GC's. The 29spl that i pulled came from a 97 that showed up on the lot the day before, picked it up for $74

nismo_2005 05-31-2010 12:38 AM

Today i finished up trimming the front fenders and bedlined the rockers. Then went and scratched them up on an imprompto trail ride in the woods.

left side trimmed, testing for clearence

Purp 05-31-2010 07:26 PM

Im gonna do the hinge mod.... but i couldn't get my 4 1/2 cutting wheel in there and couldnt find my dremel. so i was just gonna pull the doors and cut them while there off. it was 2am so i just gave for the night. the nieghbors don't enjoy my late night antics, probaly this weekend i'll attemp it agian:cheers:

nismo_2005 05-31-2010 07:41 PM

the jeep is looking good. i might end up going doorless on my xj. when you gets yours done you will have to give me a ride in it so i can see what i think. oh and seeing your jeep flexed made my mind up on the bastered pack. now i just cant wait.

i ended up with about 3'' from the bastard pack and with a 1.5 shackle for about 4.5 in the back. I might do a shackle relocation box to give more angle. When i do go doorless i'm either gonna to the blazer tire carriers for tube doors or just build my own, since i dd mine a 120miles a day

nismo_2005 05-31-2010 07:50 PM

yeah tube doors would be a must. ohio weather is the only thing that worries me though. the jeep gets parked out doors. and you know how rain is around here. especially days like today

ruff88xj 05-31-2010 07:55 PM

i hear ya on the weather, i keep leavin my windows down... I should invest some time into bed lining the floors

nismo_2005 05-31-2010 07:57 PM

yeah i think i am going to do that to my xj. it already has a one piece rubber floor that is molded just like the stock carpet but bed liner would be a little tougher.

ruff88xj 05-31-2010 08:00 PM

most of mine is still solid, there's a hole on the right rear wheel well in the hatch area...im gonna cut out the wheel well on my parts jeep to replace it.

nismo_2005 05-31-2010 08:03 PM

i have one spot on my rear floor pan by the back seat i need to take care of. other then that the floor is solid.

ruff88xj 05-31-2010 09:03 PM

If you want, I can cut a piece out of my parts xj to replace the hole

nismo_2005 05-31-2010 09:11 PM

i might just take you up on that. i cant wait till my xj is trail worthy so we can get a meet together and go wheeling.
