Thanks man... I'm probably going to use body filler on the B pillars maybe the bed rails in spots and most likely on the tail light section. I really am NOT looking forward to that.

So I've been thinking about paint what do you guys think about the bottom half being flat black bed liner and the top half OD green?

Matt

I'd fab some caps to match the contour of the tailgate and cut a fold the top of the gate like you said. If you're feel'n froggy, french in some catty tail lights! Look'n good so far!

Wow! You did a lot in 2 days! VERY Impressive. I'm just waiting for a good excuse to chop my 2 door. Keep up the good work, man. I'll be following this thread.

I started it on Feb 23rd. But I forgot that I was a member of this site so I didn't post up my build. I just copied it for another site. But to be honest with you, if you had all the stuff 2 guys could probably do everything Ive done and then some in a weekend.

I think I have decided on paint Plum Crazy Metallic....

Still, a week and a half, and it's coming along great. I'm still impressed. Can't wait to see it when it's done.

This looks great so far! Always a big fan of 2 door chops; something about the four doors just looks funny to me. No offense meant towards those who do have 4 door chops lol

Ya I'm kinda thinking of chopping mine just behind the rear wing window on my 2 door, so I'll still have the rear wings! & make a soft top for it...

Well I joined when I was only looking for a XJ I ended up getting a Nissan at that time, then traded for my old 4 door XJ then sold that and got this one, I was doing some googleing and found this site (again) went to sign up and it said my email was already being used so I tried my Forums login/password combo and here we are... Haha

For those of you who have done painting in the past. Does 72 square feet sound about right for the top half of a chop top XJ? I wanna go get a price on paint tomorrow.

I like it a lot bro!

Looks good for being built with a flux core and some hand tools!

For paint id seriously just spray can it and shoot some clear over that or something.

Well I got a little bit of work done, but not a lot I got called into work. So I think I've decided that i am going to just cover the end caps and have the tail gate stick out a little bit. I can always move the tail gate in a bit I guess. Well onto the pics

I started to prime the jeep but got board

Then I made an end cap. Going to need to use some body filler there.

With the tail gate on. Small gap, but not bad.

Thanks.
I have been thinking about the whole soft top thing and I'm not sure if I'm going to do it... For sure I'm going to do a soft rear wall of some sort but not sure about the rest. Hopefully tomorrow I can finish up both end caps and then decide if I want to move the tail gate in a inch or so...

Matt
