No I havent I havent lived down here in NC very long. I am looking forward to meeting people down here and getting together over there.
I used to belong to mountaineer off road a club in WV. and havent found one here Im interested in yet.
So Im going to try to put one together my self where the number one goal is getting together- (and not) collecting dues or club fees. Photo below. I covered the name of the club site becouse I dont want it out yet.
I havent gotten any work done on my xj becouse of helping a friend who's hot water heater broke and destroyed a bedroom in his mobile home...
I did get my pressure switch in the mail for my on board air setup and have been working on a site for a off-road club here in NC... I will get some welding updates tomorrow and Sunday.

Anticipating the launch of your site. You'll have to post up the web address here when you're done. Also, looking forward to see your OBA set up.

Well it dried up a little today so I worked on the rear fenders some.. The PO really did a number on those rear fenders when he cut them out... So Im working on welding them up..
I still have a little to do but it got dark on me. I must also say I suck at welding and dont know anyone close.

I laughed when I saw those mud dobber thingys. My XJ spent the first 23 years of it's life in Fayetteville, NC and has those all over it in the weirdest places

Well I havent gotten a whole lot done on the xj.. Can I say not having a garage sucks Its been cold and wet all week.
I did manage to get inside and start stripping some of the old bed liner off the floor. First I thought it was going to be a pain but it is just pealing right up like sheets of paper.. Only thinner . Who ever put this crap down didnt take the time and care to do it right thats for sure..
I did manage to get in my new air tanks for the OBA project I also went to harbor freight and picked up a few hundred feet of hose and some other parts.
Im starting to get parts piling up I hope it warms up soon
On other fronts my side project got some attention this week (4x4 playground) will be open soon as I can find some moderators -Hint Hint- Well anyway here's some photos..
O and by the way I got my neighbor to pose in her swim suit next to my xj.. I was going to post the photos but with her being 50 and all I figured It wasn't wright

I am making progress with the rear fenders.. As you know the po cut them way to high and I wasn't sure how I was going to put them back together I consulted 3 body shops.
The first one said they could spot weld them every 6in then use putty to seal them up. Cost $180 each side
The second told me they would spot weld them every 5 to 6in then use fiber glass to seal them up cost $220 each side
The third said they could pop rivet them and use panel glue on the inside and putty to seal them up cost $45 per hour
So here is what I decided to do. I am spot welding them every 2in then using Dev con Liquid Steel as a body putty to clean them up and seal them then Im using 3m panel glue on the inside like a caulking around the seam for a little added durability.
I figure the cold weld can crack and the welds can crack and the glue can fail but the chances of all 3 happening are so remote I ain't worried about it.
That's my plan. I will update and ad photos when It warms up and I can work on it.
