I'll be installing Notch fender flares as soon as I can afford them.

Just pulled the locker and put he spiders back in. Some of the teeth near the c-clip slot are worn down very round. I assume that is why it has been popping unlocked so frequently. I don't know why though. I installed it with all the spacing within spec. The springs all look fine. I just emailed Aussie. Hopefully they can do something to help me. I'd hate to be out a locker.

Did some work over the last month, trying to be ready for a couple spring moab trips.
Did a little cut n fold
Then I got started on my rear bumper build. I've never fabbed stuff like this before, so it was pretty fun to get my hands dirty. I used a 2x6 C-channel and 2x3 rectangular tubing. All 3/16" thick The C-channel is a bit burlier than that as it tapers at the top and bottom from almost 1/2" thick. I went with the c-channel for the rear because I will soon be inserting a 2" hitch receiver, and I wanted to access the hitch pin from behind so I could flush the insert as much as possible on the outside.
Then I used some tie-downs to hold it in position while I measured where I wanted the armor to extend underneath the cut n fold.
Here's the result before making the mounts.
I'll add some extensions to go inside the unibody some day, but not this year. So here's a look at the brackets.
Before painting up the bumpers, I did a bit of bond-o to clean up the cut n fold.
Here's the bumper all painted up with dupli-coat bed liner. It will look better later this year, when I weld on the d-tabs and the hitch insert.
While the bumpers were off, I figured I better relocate the vacuum can. I just used an existing bolt that stuck out of the firewall plus one additional self-tapping screw.
I hated the horns hanging down, so I flipped the bracket and rotated it up behind the support. Left you can see it moved, right you can see it hang down like they normally do.
I also got my replacement locker installed in the rear. Now I just need to get to work on the front bumper. It will probably be 2-3 weeks before I get around to that. I'm also pretty desperate for some fender flares. The stock flares aren't going to work for the back. I want more clearance than those will allow. And I don't think my body work will allow the Notch flares to work. Thinking about these: http://www.shopjeepparts.com/terrain...c1bnk0t73n8ov4
Can't beat the price. I know they aren't the prettiest, but I'm on a tight budget, and there are only a few options for flares that mount high enough that they mount on the doors in the rear.

Ha! I just noticed my leaf springs are a ticking time bomb. Just called the local leaf spring shop and luckily they have a generic replacement band that goes around the leafs.

The Jeep performed well. It was a short weekend at Moab. My step-dad is on dialysis 3 days a week, so it is hard to get away for too long. He has never been on any hard-core wheeling, so it was great to get him out, and sometimes, behind the wheel.
The first day we just spend about 4 hours on the "Dome Plateau" trail. A more scenic trail where I did 95% in 2-wheel drive. But we loved it.
The second day we took our sweet time on "Hell's Revenge" (my absolute favorite trail). Normally we do in about 3 hours, but I think we took at least 5-6 stopping to enjoy the view, watching other rigs, and even trying my hand on "Hell's Gate" obstacle for my first time.
Not sure I'll ever do this again without a spotter, but I did this day.

It's Hells Revenge. At the half way end of the trail, it's an optional obstical called Hells Gate. You have to leave the trail to even see it. I have another trip with 6+ rigs going down April 11-13. Camping at a group site at goose island campground on the river. We have room if you want to join us. I've been meaning to go wheeling with you for months.

Welded on some d-ring tabs and a hitch insert.
Also finished up my front bumper build. Just waiting for my d-rings in a few days.
Took another trip to Moab.
I let my 15 year old drive most the time. I think he has the bug almost as bad as me. Here are a few pics of him.

Here is a video of a few of us on Hell's Gate in Moab. My buddy's 11 year old daughter shot it at the top with a little gopro. Can't really tell how steep it is, but it'll make you pucker a little.
