Default second cherokee: 1986 xj on 36's

So I sold my 2000 cherokee out of impulse and i went for a diesel got rid of that and had a huge ford on 36's. Wheeled it a little bit and absolutely hated it. It was simply too big so i sold that and i was on the hunt for another cherokee. Found an 86 4 door with the 2.5L 5 speed sitting on 36's with 8" of lift. Locked front end, 4:10 gears, rock sliders, bushwackers and a tire carrier so i jumped on that. Motor has 190xxx on it but runs strong. The guy was trying to get rid of it for cheap because it had a terrible death wobble and he couldnt figure out why. I took a quick look... bent tie rod and all 4 ball joints are junk. I replaced all the steering and about to do the ball joints. I took her out in the mud and man she can make it through anything. Im taking the 36's off because as it is my daily the little 2.5L cant push them. Let me know what you think. I have a lot of plans for it.

35's would be the happy medium for me and they would be completely functional for the road and of course wheeling. and i would not have to worry about swapping tires out for when i go wheeling

That is a really freaking sweet jeep man.

I have 8.3 inches of lift on my 89 XJ and am running 32x10.5's. It does not look too bad. It doesnt look to me like it is riding on donuts, but thats just me. haha. I am DEFINITLY moving up to 35s, 36s, or 37s but I just thought I would show you what around 33s look like on about 8 inches of lift. I am not trying to high jack your thread, just showin what 32s look like.

Here ya are.

Anyway, that is a sweet looking jeep man good luck and keep us posted on what you do.

Thanks guys. And yeah that doesn't look to bad. I would just get sick of all my buddies tormenting me for riding on pizza cutters haha. I plan to put a 2" spacer in the front and shackles in the back so I will be right around 10 inches. I'm still looking around for the right 35's some say I'm too damn picky haha.

try the track bar. the ball joint goes out sometimes and you get death wobble from your axle goin side to side. nice jeep how is the power outa that 2.5. if you ever do a swap try for the cummins 4bt if you like diesel. 3.9L turbo 4banger. good little motor.

The 2.5 in 4lo is simply amazing. I can crawl through anything. And if i could get my hands on the diesel motor for cheap i would love it. But seeing how i can get a 4.0 with 90k on it for free i cannot complain. im going to replace the steering stabilizer tomorrow because i will be going down the road fine and then ill hit the smallest of bumps and the death wobble arises.
