Just keeping it consistent with what I did up front. Remember where I live, lol....not a whole lot of need for rust prevention, so I'm keeping it simple...and easy as well as cheap to touch up.

Racecars do it because they don't articulate much, plus at those speeds, can you imagine one of those things cutting loose?

On to what was done today.
Not many pics as the first portion was rather boring. Plus, I worked a little late, then had to go get paint product.
Got the entire underside cleaned up with wax and tar remover. Went through several rags, LOL...no pics as it is not really pic worthy.
Then I started priming. Only got so far before I started to lose light.
Driver's side wheel well and frame rail done:

A couple of perspective shots...first is of the rear, second of the front, and what the rear will look like when done...

Notice the hack job on the trim from the PO...another reason to keep it simple. I do plan on going back and cleaning ALL of that up. I'm just not worried about cosmetics yet. Get the big stuff done, then worry about aesthetics.

Update time!
Good progress today.
Got the new leafs, shackles, and shims put together, and installed...had to remove the centering pins for the degree shims, and replace with new...also, word of warning if you use RE degree shims, I had to drill them out for the new pins. No big deal, just be aware.
For those who have not replaced centering pins before...put several c-clamps on the leafs, leave room for shims if needed, remove the old pins, and put in the new pins.

Then, moved on to the rear axle stuff...cracked the cover, fluid looked great, as did the gearset.

Wire brushed the mating surfaces.

Wire brushed, primed, and painted the cover...also painted the bolts for the cover silver, not shown

Got the c-clips out and axles removed.

Got the old backing plates off, and put into the scrap pile.

The perches were pretty beat up, evidently there must've been some slop in the u-bolts...no worries. I took the center pins removed from the leafs, put them in place, and filled the damaged areas with weld, then ground down.

Closer view:

Happy with the progress today...this week I shall do a little bit each day again. Tomorrow will be wire wheeling the axle. Next day prime. Day after, paint, which is Wednesday, and also payday...so I shall get the rest of the parts needed to finish the disc conversion. Hopefully should have the rear axle ready to go for the weekend, and install then.
Getting psyched, light at the end of the tunnel, LOL
