FWIW I think I like modding my jeep more than driving it.
Okay, not really, but seems that way since it has been down so much over the last year and a half!
What about modding your jeep WHILE driving it!!!!!! Ok no, don't do that.Originally Posted by roninofako

Picked up a couple of those spot weld cutters. Haven't had a chance to use 'em yet. Fingers crossed they'll cut everything out on that cargo floor of the parts jeep so I'll finally have a floor in mine that isn't... uhhhh.... aerated.
More work done this weekend. Got the front stiffeners in! Then switched gears to the front axle, as now all I'm waiting on to rebuild, is that.
Fronts burned in and rosettes ground down, drivers and passenger's sides:

On to the front axle...trimmed the coil buckets as needed for the steering upgrades, then boxed them in...

Sway bar links GONE...no big, never used them anyways, LOL

The piece I cut out for the box in on the driver's side...

Burned in and ground down...

...passenger side...

Then burned in the new OTA trackbar bracket...

Overall view...

So...now I can concentrate on the wear items on the axle, so next weekend will be all wrenching, and no fab....which I am OK with, it means progress is being made. Soon I will be wrapping up the front end, and I am okay with that! Once the axle is broken down, it will get some fresh paint, as will the mids and front stiffeners, then undercoating, then put it back together, and move on to the rear. SUH-WEET! LOL

Long answer is I was laying on my back to get that last bead, at the end of the day. Seeing as the top of the bracket got a good solid bead, I figured good enough, LOL...yeah, not the straightest, but a decent bead. And, unless you're under it lookin' up, you'll never see it anyways!

why don't you rotate the axle? If I had an axle on jack stands, I wouldn't be laying on my back at all. LolOriginally Posted by roninofako

Working by myself. No one around to help me lift and rotate. The stands are under the coil buckets where the lowers go.Originally Posted by XJwonders

Besides, don't be a-feared of overhead welding...it separates the men from the boys, LMFAO

True story there... only way to do exhaust is overhead. Can't rotate a vehicle upside-down to weld with gravity at your assistance.Originally Posted by roninofako

I pick up the Dana 44 axles and put them on jack stands by myself and it's easy to rotate them... Just take the third jack off the pinion and let it spin. That's what I doOriginally Posted by roninofako
