Planned to put some peel and seal down after painting to get a similar effect so that I wouldn't need to have those down. got tired of taking them off anyway so Im over them. Got all the rust wired off and scuffed up all of the pain surface that I'm going to treat. Tried to clean everything with acetone but theres so much to clean I'll have to continue tomorrow.

And now for the good stuff!

Picked these guys up from Fastenal. Tread on the tires is great, axles are heavy. Everything is awesome!

Wow! I'd say they went a little overkill on the tube thickness, but then again when is overkill a bad thing in our world.

Alright, made some good headway tonight with the floor pans. Cleaned everything with acetone, lost a few thousand brain cells, put down two coats of self etching primer, lost a few more thousand brain cells, and bought some peel n seal for after I paint tomorrow.





This freaking jerk wouldnt come out and I stripped the french fries out of it, so its staying in



Going to head to Tractor Supply tomorrow for Farm and Implement paint

No vise grips or heat gun on hand?

Vice grips weren't doing it. Don't have a heat gun maybe I'll just hold a Bic lighter on it for a while

Lookin even better now! Went through 3 (three!!) rolls of Peel n Seal so far. The front tub is to my liking. The back will take another roll. Put my driver seat back in as I have friends coming this long weekend and they need a car for tuesday and I'll be at work so they will take my subaru and I'll drive the one seat wonder to work.

Gonna be pumping the breaks on purchases for a while to recoup what I spent on the axles and tires. Gonna be doing only stuff that is cheap or free. That will include finishing the sound deadening and putting the carpet back in, tearing down the axles and cleaning them up. That should last me a few weeks as I'm going to try to work on Derek only on the weekends.

Some unfortunate news: I was driving him home from work yesterday (with only the driver seat and no seatbelt installed lol) and I watched a big ole rock fling up from the car in front of me and put a nice little chip in my brand new, 1 month old, windshield. Le sigh

i was building a stage set once and i was pre drilling a hole for stair railing add-ons and the drill bit caught my shirt..and in turn some belly hair and ripped a good bunch out..did not feel good. seeing this pic made me cringe haha

at least you didnt cruch the cowl and hood in 6 days after you got your v8 swapped xj legal and back on the road with a fresh trans

that was oddly specific...haha

Weekend update!

Finished up the peel n seal and got the carpet, seats and trim all back in. Got everything in and was cleaning up and under a big thing of cardboard was this:



I reckon its a good thing the AC doesnt even work then!



Got started on the C8.25 prep.
Took the drum brakes off: chucked them in the trash
Took the drum backing plates off: chucked them in the trash
Took the axle shafts out. Had to disassemble the locker a little to get the C clips off, and im certainly gonna have to figure out how to get everything back in, but im in no hurry.

Going to continue to clean up the axle housing and figure out how the heck to reinstall this lunchbox. Once everything is all back in, the plan is to purchase disc brake kit and install that
