As far as benefit goes? Well, the OEM exhaust manifolds were pretty efficient from the factory. Biggest problem with them is that they're prone to cracking. You will see a marginal improvement in low-end torque and maybe a bump in HP. You'll definitely notice a sound difference.

Is it worth the 300-500 bucks though? Well, that's up to you.

I got my header off of Ebay and it didn't cost me more than 100 bucks (basically an APN/Banks torque tube knockoff). BUT, mine's a '92 and doesn't have that split downpipe like you do, so I have more options.

Awesome man thank you. I dont believe its cracked, and ive checked before. I dont think it will crack now as i have the brown dog motor mounts installed. I just like to kinda knock everything out in one go while im doing a project. Maybe ill remove the old manifold and wrap it in that exhaust tape, clean off the ports on the head and slap a new gasket and new bolts on there, just for my own happiness lol

"Snowed" here in southern mississippi. All my patients are cancelling so I'm sitting just reading through build threads. I just want to drive it around now!

Nah havent mentioned it I dont think! I always feel out of place as a cherokee owner. Most XJ owners are CNC operators or welders or fabricators or something along those lines!

Well I'm a cop in the Navy and have very little welding, fabricating skills :). All that I know I do research on or the years helping family work on cars. One good thing my Dad always did is include me in the garage or I wouldn't have cared nor known half the stuff I know today. Its like you can't judge a book by its cover because you never know someone until they allow you to know them. Pretty cool though to learn your back ground and know people come from all avenues around here with all different skill levels.

I once met a guy who was a reservist in the Navy. He was Military Police like me on his weekend duty but then flying Commercial planes full-time. Two didn't go together at all and was pretty cool! He still owes me a ride in his personal jet :)
