Cliff notes: Road trip from NorCal --> NJ that ended in Montana due to a CEL that the mechanic there couldnt figure out. Shipped the heep back to NJ. 5 months later my buddy still doesnt have it up and running after many deadlines I set missed. Took it to a mechanic and he fixed it that day. Bad ignition coil. |

Oh wow lol. This is why spare parts are ESSENTIAL on a cross-country trip in an older vehicle.

I’m still learning! I think it’s better to just not go far from home again haha I made it all the way across from NJ to CA without much issue!

lol..... yeah you're probably right. I really wanna drive mine from FL to KY, but the thing that's really stopping me is the freakin' gas mileage. 33" tires does not a good road-trip vehicle make.

Still alive! About to start a new job next week. Been trying to save up so I have some safety money for those just in case moments in life.
Definitely looking for an option for a whole new exhaust system. Wanted to go either cat back or header back. Not sure if there is any benefit to aftermarket headers for a 2000. Also need to put in some shims for the rear axle pinion angle. I just dont want to initiate the whole process of removing the ubolts and everything. Also, the driver side window has not been self limiting with lowering aka it sounds like the motor continues to try to drop the window down once its already all the way down. Will have to replace that side and will likely replace the other side while im at it as that side is hella slow. Well thats an update. More to come. Might go trail riding this weekend again. We shall see. |
Here's a good place to get a cat-back system.
http://performance-curve.com/84-01ch...ailpipe-1.aspx Comes with your choice of muffler. $120-170 depending on options. |
That's a good price on exhaust I just might pull the trigger for my 89. I just have no idea differences of mufflers.

We also have a thread here with numerous different exhaust sound clips.... https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f67/ch...thread-180356/ Or you can check my personal YouTube channel for a few different examples. |

Not saying I aspire to EXACTLY copy his setup, but I am planning on similar components to emulate that sound as much as possible. |
That is nice!! Ive looked into doing the entire exhaust replacement, but i didnt see may aftermarket exhaust headers for 2000's. Not sure of the benefit of replacing it or if there is any way to upgrade it?

https://www.summitracing.com/search/...0%2B4294945642 https://www.morris4x4center.com/cata...+%26+manifolds https://www.quadratec.com/categories...%3A6cyl%204.0L As far as benefit goes? Well, the OEM exhaust manifolds were pretty efficient from the factory. Biggest problem with them is that they're prone to cracking. You will see a marginal improvement in low-end torque and maybe a bump in HP. You'll definitely notice a sound difference. Is it worth the 300-500 bucks though? Well, that's up to you. I got my header off of Ebay and it didn't cost me more than 100 bucks (basically an APN/Banks torque tube knockoff). BUT, mine's a '92 and doesn't have that split downpipe like you do, so I have more options. |
