Your going to tackle the regear process yourself?
If so, so am I but I'm trying to find the best tips and tricks to make it happen...
I've seen most of the tools and the basics but I know there's a lot of info missing compared to what I see on videos and DIY write-ups...

I got it on the engine stand trying to get the engine assembled as much as I can before I pull the engine on the jeep , the engine is in good shape so I dont want to take it apart . So I picked up an oil pan, stud girdle, timing cover fel-pro pan gasket, timing cover gasket, and oil seal . It's a stroke so I bought some ARP washers 200-8557 to space the girdle, their .116 thick installed the washers and girdle, torqued to 35 ft pounds and checked with a feeler gauge and the rod hits on # 5 rod , guess I will take it apart and shim it some more , hope it clears the pan , we will see !!

I think I got screwed by ATK this engine is supposed to have a scat crank . That is not a scat crank , its a stock jeep crank with 4 counter weights , witch is 20 LBS lighter then the scat 9000 crank which has 6 counter weights . RRRRR !!!!!

I tryed another shim on the stud girdle , but that made it hit the pan in the front . So I chucked it in the drill press , using an end mill I machined a grove on the girdle to clear the rod I have .060 so I think it will be fine .

Any updates?
I too am working on a retirement Cherokee.
I'm currently working on my 8.25 and adding Jeep Liberty rear disc. During my research I came across these "repair" bearings for the 8.25. It has two incorporated seals, inner and outer. The PR1559 changes the location of the bearing on the axle. As you know the steel used in the axle is softer than the bearing, if your bearing are worn so is your axle.
Thanks for all the information you provided.
