Well here i how my XJ has sat for the past 3 days while I try to figure out what is wrong with her...

I ended up replacing all gaskets attached to the head and also found out that this is not the original head... its from a 99 model year XJ.
But then after doing all that work the alternator was fried and then I ended up with a major vacuum leak at the intake manifold.... now with some extra hands tomorrow I should be able to get her on the road again.

Might want to make sure that the top of the motor is still square. If someone replaced the head outta that thing with one from a '99, more than likely the original 0331 head that came in it, cracked and caused the motor to overheat. They may have replaced it with the better head, but failed to make sure that the motor didn't need to be decked, so your mating surface is off.

Wait. The intake is cracked or the head is cracked?

Well I replaced the intake manifold and ended up having to replace my not even a year old battery since it was completely drained.... now after all of this I decided to trow in the proverbial towel and had it towed to an Jeep dealer to have it repaired.

Why not just stick it on a trickle charger at very low amperage and charge it?

No charger would read that a battery was connected.

Welp its time for a severe update.
The battery was replaced but not under warranty since the dealership bought it.
I replaced the cracked intake.
I then had to take it to the dealership to have it looked at. And they found out that my radiator was half clogged, the battery wires from the alternator were loose, more vacuum leaks, EXT.
I then fixed it up and then promptly had to remove the head again due to the presence of exhaust fumes in the coolant.
The head was cracked between the springs.
I replaced the head with a TUPY head.
Then I had a series of misfires, the timing was way off and such forth.

Had it brake down on the way from my new job on Monday after my first day.. had it towed to the dealership again.
The water pump was toast, upper radiator hose bew up on the mechanic, new spark plugs, timing adjusted, head pressure tested and came out perfect, tanny fluid was low, more vacuum leaks... I'll post more tomorrow when I go to pick it up since they called yesterday to say it was ready... Also the work and parts totaled $856.53

Well I ended up having to send it back to the dealership due to a cylinder 6 misfire. ended up being the coil pack rail.

But now its fixed. And now I'm modifying it further. I'm finishing my 2 inch lift with front coil spacers to match the lift in the rear. And I got some barely used 31 inch tires and new rims at no cost!

All is great now. I'm actually working on my lift. I have to install the 2" coil spacers and I'm working on getting two more 31" tires to match the others I have.
I'm also working on fixing up and organizing my cargo area...

Is that the beginnings of a subwoofer enclosure in the top pic or something else?
