Thumbs down Questions on XJ project before I start

I've been reading around and have a few questions about answers I don't quite understand.

First with the build. Haven't gotten the jeep yet but it'll e an 87-01 xj for sure, most likely older for cost. I want to go with a 3" for sure and 31x10.50r15 tire on a 15x8 steel rim.

My questions are these:

I've read in the lift company thread on some lifts that the only thing bad on some is that they come with aal or blocks. What's bad about them and what else is there that it could come with?

What extra mods are required or reccomended to complete the lift? If I'm not mistaken I think I read that if you don't go over 3" you won't need anything. I'm just worried bc I'm on a budget and don't wanna have to buy a bunch of stuff on top of a full suspension kit. I don't wanna have to get a sye kit and a new driveshaft etc.

Ive been looking at the lifts in the lift section and am havin trouble deciding which ones to go with. It seems like they're all close in price for the most part but which ones are the most complete? The ones I'm looking at are rough country, tuff country, And procomp

That should be it but if I think of anything else I'll try and post up.

Some/most AAL's will sag very quickly.

Blocks will cause axle-wrap and ruin your springs very quickly.

At 3" you're going to need new shocks....at 2" you should get new ones as well.

Do not use any lift kit that replaces the OEM bushings with poly bushings...regardless of the brand. Poly bushings don't flex as well as rubber and transmit a lot vibes and road noise.

Most people don't buy the AAL because after a while they're going to sag. It's best to get the full leaf replacement kit for that matter. Although not always completely necessary, it's recommended to replace the shocks with the 3" inch lift. A lot of people run the RC lift because it's the best bang for your buck IMO. Plus I think I read on here that you can get a member discount.

I'm new to XJ's too so some of this information may be a little off ,but this is what I have gathered through my research. I'm sure a more advanced member will step in and supply more information. Hope that helps some though.

Oh ok that makes sense about the springs. Ik on rough country's site they show a 3" with aal for $346 and full springs for $610. The rc with full springs sounds like the kit to get

Oh awesome. Will I need a sye or a new driveshaft with that kit or is that for bigger kits? And I read something on rcs site about a shackle relocation kit, will I need this?

I know a lot of people wouldn't recommend using blocks and that kind of stuff for a lift and they list some good reasons for it but personally I've had nothing but good luck with them. I've had 3 separate vehicles lifted with blocks and never encountered any issues and one was a 2005 Chevy Silverado so it was a big heavy truck, but I also don't use my vehicles for crawling over big rocks, mostly just mud and trails. For me it's just a cheap way to lift my vehicle when I'm on a budget because around here I can get the full block kit for $120. But the full leaf kits do seem to be better built and like I said, many of the more experience users on here would advise against blocks as I'm sure you've noticed.
