Default "Project Whitey" (2001 XJ)

Hey guys, I just picked up my second XJ. First one I bought with a zone 3" lift and 31x10.5 BFG A/Ts. It was a perfect setup at the time for a DD but now I'm looking to build something I can really play with, but still take on trips and drive to work on these wonderful winter days coming our way. Below is how she looks at the moment.

I figured why wait on the goods, so I've already ordered a RC 4.5" X-Series lift, 15x8 black Summit Racing d-windows and a set of 32x11.5 Kenda Klever MTs. There are some other various odds and ends I'm trying to decide which route to go with but this should be a good start. Parts should be in next week and I will start installing next weekend. Many more pics to come and I'm very excited to tear into this white XJ!

Looks like you already have it installed?

Nice XJ. It'll be sweet with the lift and tires on there. What else are you planning on doing to it?

I'll for sure be swapping in ZJ tie rods, most likely when I do the lift since the ones on it now seem like they're on their way out. I'm thinking a stubby front bumper like the one below. I'll be trimming and capping the fenders. I've got some other ideas but I'll keep it fairly simple for now.

Wheels came in on Friday, lift should arrive today and tires tomorrow. Hopefully start tearing into the Jeep tonight or tomorrow.

Started pulling the original suspension off the Jeep last night and had the typical 14 year old rusty bolts issues. I actually had to cut the bolts for the upper control arm on the passenger side. I'm going to tear into my front axle tonight and replace some smaller parts here and there then hopefully start throwing the new front suspension on.

Last night I finally finished getting the pitman arm off and removed all the tie rods and steering stabilizer. I also installed the adjustable upper and lower control arms then called it quits. I should have the front end all put together by the end of the night.

Lift almost done! Need to swap brake lines, install the TC drop until I order my SYE kit and weld some bolts to the unibody to use as upper shock mounts since all 4 broke. Just waiting for FedEx to find my tire that they lost and I'll throw the wheels and tires on.

As it sits now the rear is just under 1.5" taller than the front. I'm hoping the rear settles a bit so I don't have to throw some spacers up front. Just ready to get it on the trails and see how it performs!

Picked it up from the alignment shop tonight! Sorry for the bad picture, it was already dark when I picked it up. Better pictures will come tomorrow.

Still need to run extended front and rear brake hoses and also replace the bent brake line that connects to the rear brake hose on the rear differential. Also throwing the TC drop on for the time being.

This is the only picture I can get to upload from my phone so I'll upload some more later.

Better than I expected. I only put 10 miles or so on it today and didn't have the front sway bars hooked up. Hopefully put some more miles on this coming week.
