Well I installed it today, only took like 2 hours, but I have to get it aligned. I tried to adjust the length of the new rods to match the old, but apperently that didnt work so well since my wheels are pointing in different directions. Luckily there is a decent shop like a 2 minute drive down the road. Should have everything buttoned up for the trip soon, just wanna buy a hi-lift and some new tow straps, get my new bumpstops in and im set. I cant wait though should be a blast of a trip.

You guys gotta vote for me in the COM this month, I wanna see the club im a member of, Adirondack Jeeps get some publicity.

Also, just picked up a good condition AX-15 this morning for 8 bucks (cost of a 24 pack of pepsi), its in good shape but im gonna rebuild most of it anyways and then ill have a standard to swap in. I think im gonna try and convert it to an external slave too, the one I got is out of a 1990 I beleive making it one of the problematic internal slave ones. Pics up tommorow of that and maybe my ZJ steering install.

Ok, got a fairly picture heavy update here. Been working on my jeep for the better part of the last 3 days so I have gotten quite a bit done. My Jeep now has a high pinion front end, front axle u-joints, a rebuilt front driveshaft and homebrew front bumpstops.'

Also picked up a decent condition 1990 XJ AX-15 that im planning on swapping in to replace the AW-4 and my ZJ disk brakes came as well. Transmission is a longer term project, maybe going in over the summer. Brakes should be going in tommorow.

Planning on taking a week off from work sometime this summer to work on some bigger projects, I think im going to repaint it again and go for gloss red this time, im getting sick of tan and im going to ditch those bushwackers (too damn flimsy, already cracked BOTH of the rear ones from sideswiping stuff, not bad they still stay on but it looks like s***) and fab some flat fenders out of tube and sheetmetal and maybe trim the fenders up a little more to give those 33's a little more room without having to lift it more. I think im going to ditch my rocksliders too and weld some box steel into the rockers.

Working on this makes me happy I own a Jeep even more. In order to save the 500 dollar labor fee of having the Audi stealership change a CV joint boot on my moms A6 I decided to make 100 bucks and do it myself. All I can say is I hope to never have to work on an Audi EVER again, whoever at their engineering department decided to make the lug nuts screw INTO the hub instead of having wheels studs and lug nuts like every other vehicle on earth should be fired, try lining up the hub, the rotor and the wheel while alone and you will agree.

I deserve an sward for cleaning up this axle so nice, take a look a couple pages back at what it looked like when I bought it. It was more rust than axle.





AX-15 that I picked up for a 24 pack of Pepsi, just needs a new reverse gear and its ready to roll.





I throw some pics of of my custom rear bumpstop extensions when I finish them as well. Im gonna weld some sliced of old I beam to the frame and drill and tap holes in them for the 1" extended rubber bumpstops which were too short for my new tires.

DAMN YOU!!! You are doing everything that I want to do. I'm loving your jeep dude. I want to do an ax-15 swap I hate autos lol

Edit: Oh yeah, V-dubs have that stupid threaded hub design too. gaaay

Although there will always be a place in my heart for red jeeps, that tan paint job looks bad ***. I saw pics of you wheeling with the guy that bought my old jeep (David Lane). I loved that chili pepper red. I agree with you on the bushwackers though.

I'd sell them not throw them away. Im prolly not going to get around to the body work for another month or two. Get back to me if you really want them though.

They are all the same except the pre-94 ones were internal slave making it alot harder to replace the slave if they go bad. Thats really about it.


Also got my Hi-lift today and had to test it out. Works Great.

you got a nice jeep looks good but i think i would leave it tan and not paint it red to many red jeeps
