They are Pontiac GTX vents. Most vents let water fall straight through. When I got these, another reason I got them is because they came with drip pans. No matter what, if you are driving and its raining, water is getting up under the hood. The drip plans will help.

You'd pretty much have to submerge a motor in water to stop it from running, they'll usually keep going until water gets sucked up the intake and they hydrolock. Most electronics under the hood are marginally water resistant.

working on it. I was hoping to have the rear axle (D44 anyway) under the thing, tightened down and with tires on already but I had to wait for the new cross pin and thrust washers to come in so I can finish installing the Aussie. That stuff is supposed to come in tomorrow (Friday).
thanks rewster.
its raining today, so im going out to the garage to paint my new rear bumper. Picked up a C4x4 rear bumper from overlandxj. The thing looks beefy as hell. will get pictures when i install it.

You can still mount the bumper... just dont hang weight off it in the form of a tire carrier etc till you install the tieins.

Thanks!
well finally fought the humidity and the mosquitos and got my new rear bumper installed. It is a C4x4 rear bumper and it looks great. Getting the old bumper off was kind of a pain with the hitch in the way. Then installing the new one, I had to employ two garbage cans as saw horses because I couldn't hold the bumper in place while bolting it down haha. It there!
Picture for stock look:

New C4x4 bumper (thanks OverlandXJ!):

Sorry for the blurry pics. The humidity fogged the camera up when I brought it outside
