Its MY build. It happened. And if I end up not liking it, it CAN be fixed. Thanks for looking
Hey man nice jeep ya got going on there. I just wanted to pipe in about the welding stuff. This is in no way meant to be mean. Its more for your saftey. Like you have said yourself you have only been welding since april. And you only have a 120 mig. Just because you can beat on it with a hammer and it doesnt break isnt even close to 3000+ lbs jeep sitting on it being abused offroad. Im all for doing things yourself and learning, but building taillights and welding suspension is two different things. If those mounts weaken on a trail and then snap off when your doing 60 mph down a highway that would not be a good thing. Im not saying your not capable of doing it but when you ask for advice on something your not really familiar with you should listen to what people are telling you. The other guy wasnt being mean at all just being honest. I would in no way weld those mount on with the welder you are using. If you can afford it just put it off a while until you can. Just my two cents.
Oh and a tip for your cage. Instead of welding the pipes right to the sheet metal, weld 6"x6"x1/8" steel plates to the floor first, then weld the pipes to them if the cage is meant for more than looks. If you weld them to the sheetmetal floor and ever rollover the pipes will just push right out through the floor.
Good luck with the build and keep up the good work!!!!

As for the cage, Im HOPING to have TNT frame stiffeners in by then and I'll weld the tubing to that and quite possibly what you were saying to do. I have a ton of ideas for this Jeep, but the funds aren't quite permitting so the ideas are going to be put on the wait-list unfortunately

Jeep looks good!! And like said before don't worry about not having the money... just make sure you do what you can right the first time around, so you don't have to waste money replacing it later... I am on a budget build myself... and you are already past me.. so you don't have to feel bad about where you are compared to where you want it to be..

Well it finally stopped raining and being so freakin cold so I worked on the Jeep and got the second side to the new D44 taken apart and got rid of some surface rust that has been accumulating. The new Ballistic Fab coil/spring/link brackets will be here Tuesday
then its off to my new friends shop to get both axles ready to be dropped in

Well last night my gf wanted me to take her, her best friend, and her best friends boyfriend off roading. My dilemma was that the stack was hitting the driveshaft so I decided to take it off and run it straight piped since the trail wasnt the far away. Well I was driving through the little pond that I've driven through billions of times and somehow out of no where this happened...

I'm guessing someone decided to bog it out. It got stuck around 11 last night and I had to carry my girlfriend and her friend across from my Jeep because the water was literally freezing temperature and there was ice on it...needless to say it was freezing...and the guy that was with me decided his f-150 couldnt handle it and he left us. So me and the guy I live with spent til 415am trying to get it out with a handwinch which didnt work. At this point I was certain I was gonna need a new engine so I went home and searched craigslist just in case. Around 6 tonight my friends boss came and pulled the Jeep out with his tahoe and got me back to my Dodge so I could try and jump it off just to see if the engine might come to life just a little. To my complete surprise, my Jeep fired right up!!! then I drove her back to the house. It only has 1st gear right now and won't shift so I'm waiting til it dries to check everything, but even if it is the tranny, thats a bit cheaper than the whole engine and maybe I'll do a manual since thats what I want! Anyone know where a write up for auto-man swap is? D44 axle brackets come in tomorrow
