So I'm brewing up two little side projects at the moment.
1. Homemade snorkel, gonna basically use this as my model for it:
https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f58/my...norkel-101448/
2. Hood vents to help with the rough idle sometimes. I'm thinking about getting some of these cuz they are pretty cheap:
Any input on either is welcome

Got the ebrake cable out of the axle today. Going to the JY to get a drive shaft tomorrow, and going to a local 4x4 shop to get u bolts. And it will go in on Wednesday.

So I got everything I need for my swap. I got a new u joint for the axle end of the shaft cuz I messed up the one on it when I was pulling it.
I got the u bolts too, and I'm not sure if they are the right ones though, the are tough to get on the axle, but they are definitely too big for my D35. I have a pic of them on the 8.25 (at least as far as I could get them on without a hammer), and of the sticker on the u bolt itself. Are these the right ones?

Figured out the u bolts do fit. For some reason, the one is just a bit tighter then the other 3.
Also, got the u joint in today. The snap rings were a pain to get out, till I grabbed a hammer....
Then I was using a socket and hammer to beat the u joint out of the yoke, but I was afraid to hit it hard in fear of damaging the yoke. But then I saw a video of a guy doing it, and he was hitting pretty hard....
so I got midieval on it and had it out in a jiff. And the pic is the finished product.

When you bought the 8.25" what did you look for, or at, to make sure you wanted it? What if any prep work have you done to it?

Pop the diff cover to check if the oil is dark in color, which is good. If it is white and milky then there was water in it which is bad.
If your jeep is manual, then you want to get one out of a manual. If your jeep is stick, you want one out of a stick jeep. This is of course unless you plan to regear.
Also, if the jeep has the same tranny/transfer case as your jeep does, grab the drive shaft as well.
As for prep work. I popped the diff cover fill plug and stuck my pinky in there, the fluid was brand new, so I didn't change it. I also changed the brakes. That's it.

Ok, so first we put it on stands, tires off, same old same old. We then unbolted the shocks and Ubolts. Then we removed the brakes and pulled the e brake cable out. Then we unbolted the t splitter, and the drive shaft and pulled the D35 right out.
I could say what we did for installing the 8.25, but to be honest, you just bolt it up. Install the e brake cable, brakes, and soft line/t splitter. Bolt up the U bolts and shocks. Bleed the brakes. Put tires back on, and drop it to the ground.
Some guys say that with a 4.5 inch lift you can run the D35 drive shaft. I could not. So I pulled it out, and out it on the 8.25 shaft I have. Then take it for a test drive.
Pics:
1. U bolts/shocks disconnected
2/3. E brake cable out
4. T splitter unbolted
5/6. Axle out
