you could do what curry is suggesting, but if this is going to be a trail rig, I would swap gears now and that should help the speedo. I believe it's 4.10 for 31s and 4.56 for about 33 inch tires.

I am turning this into a daily driver that can do really good off road and ok on the road. So if I do like Curry says that will be better for daily road driving, but if I regear it that would be more beneficial for off road use.

you'll still be undergeared for daily driving. Regearing is beneficial for both on and off road with your setup now

Well a friend of mine regeared his wrangler at a local shop before summer. I think it was like $1200. Remember you have to do both axles. Of course rehearing is justv my opinion. It seems curry is still at stock and others here as well I believe even at 33s. However, regearing will help with gas milage and help with the bigger tires. There's a member on the head forum named Fred. He says something along the lines that regearing for your appropiate tire size returns your jeep to factory. Regearing makes your jeep with bigger tires run like it would on stock tires.

@ Ironside
Also to be considered, only re gear when your happy with your tire size, it does take some deep thought and inner soul searching to finally get on your roof and scream "I have ___ tire size and I'm happy with it!!!". After you feel you could do that, that's is when you're ready to re-gear. It would really suck to get the gears then want to go down or up a few tire sizes.
My Jeep, I call him Spartacus btw, is on 32s now and I'm happy with it. My build is aimed more at a moderate off-road/camping/overland vehicle. I'm not interesting in climbing rocks bigger than my house or going through water as deep as my Jeep either. My aim is a nice heavy duty, mid type build.
In closing, find out what you want Ironside to "be" and the rest will fall in line. Happy New Years!

Good suggestion. You can also look on the rear diff as well. Front and Rear ratios must be matched. Whatever is in front, is also in back and vice-versa.

So I went and confirmed it's a 3:55, However there is bad news. My parts Jeep is complete junk, body rotted, floors gone, mirrors broken, windshield is junk, grilles busted, the only two good parts on it are the header panel and the drivers front fender. So I didn't end up buying it. But now I'm going to part up my dad's parts jeep Cherokee that is the same year and everything, so hopefully that goes better

Regearing is sooooo nice. Sure, it's costly but it'll give you more performance than any other modification you could do for power. I ran 33's on my stock 3.55's and figured I wasn't going to stay on those so threw on a set of 35's thennnn decided it was time to regear. I didn't like how hard the transmission had to work and it really sucked for crawling in the rocks. Best mod I did was regear. My speedo is only off by 5mph with 35's and 4.56 gears.
