Gotta say, really miss my 4.0L.

The 3.6L Pentastar is really torquey and flies on the road, but it doesn't have that low-end grunt I remember from the Cherokee.

I ended up just leaving it on there – the trade-in was a last-minute decision when I found the JK, and it would have taken a while to get the brace back off.

You're going to love it – it tightens things up a lot in the unibody.

I hope so. I have been skeptical about replacing my steering box in an attempt to tighten up my steering due to all of the horror stories of re-man boxes being crap. Gonna order my brace soon as I get paid, hopefully it will cure my problem and save my money and time.

Braces don't tighten steering. They eliminate unibody twist. If you have gearbox slop, that unfortunately won't go away.

After on-going issues with getting warm, and the constant issue with steering veering all over the place, I've decided passenger safety and money savings were more important than the fun of modifying it. I have become tired of going on a wild goose chase, and I've moved to a 2012 two-door Jeep Wrangler Rubicon.

Scored it at 16k miles on the clock, and it's beautiful!

XJ will be missed – my first car, and it always treated me well. Now, on to the 21st century before Fiat ruins the brand name!
Damn and here I was hoping to see your XJ in person at one of the Trail Monkeys midways!

And too late they already did...

I know. I think if I stiffen the unibody and isolate the sector shaft from horizontal movement it may get my steering to a point where I don't feel as much slop. I'm planning to remove the box and adjust it per the FSM when I put on the brace.

You had the Rubi. offroad yet?

I wouldn't adjust that box. I've just heard way too many horror stories of steering giving out on the highway. If you have to crush that worm gear any more than it is now from the factory, you're just going to end up wearing it out faster and putting the box out of spec.
