I'm glad both of you posted about the potential fan shroud issue since I'm going to do the fan clutch upgrade soon along with my water pump. I figure I may as well do them when I replace my transmission line since the lower rad hose has to come off and coolant drained. My Brown Dog poly mm's are less than 3 mth old and my trans mount has less than 5k on it so hopefully I won't have shroud issue. We'll see...Glad to hear you're back on the road XJ.
i just replaced my fan clutch but have no idea how ot get the fan shroud over the new clutch. I didnt have one on prior to the fan clutch replace. Any tips? Ive tried to shimmy it between the rad and fan clutch but no dice
*note* those tabs on the fan shroud were hitting my rad so i ground them off. still cant get the shroud in though

Put the shroud and fan in at the same time, then you won't have any shimmy anything

When I did my fan clutch I couldn't even negotiate it off with the stock clutch on there so I just made sure the shroud was in position when I put the fan back on. Don't know if that helps at all but that's what I did!
I'm just nervous about going higher than 60 MPH. Everyone's telling me my engine's going to be screaming.
On paper, 4.56 and 33"s are a good combo.

Going to need those tabs to keep shroud from being eaten by fan.
I have a problem with my engine getting warm for no apparent reason. It wasn't hot yesterday while I was driving.
Those have have been following know that I have replaced my radiator with a 2-core CSF, replaced my heater core, replaced my thermostat with a 195 mopar stat, replaced my clutch fan with a ZJ clutch, replaced my radiator cap, replaced my hoses, replaced my fluid, and replaced my water pump, and yet, still after long drives, I get this weird heat soak that causes my RPMs to rise about 100 RPM.
I want to think that maybe that extra heat is causing the engine to run lean, but I've just replaced both o2 sensors to eliminate the possibility they may be failing.
What could be causing this? It makes no sense that my system should be going over 210. When I bought this Jeep, it always ran at about 207, and only in the last year or so, it has started creeping to the 215 mark.
I noticed my old upstream o2 sensor had this white soot on one side of it:

With that new clutch spinning the fan fast that the stock clutch causing a bit more load on the engine. The computer may be trying to compinsate for this at idle. This might be why you see the 100 RPM gain. Just thinking out loud.
I can't explain why the RPMs are jumping up 100 RPM when it heats like this, except that it may be running lean?

Nah, it's done this for over a year and the new clutch has been on it for 7 days lol.
