Today, I sea-foamed the oil and changed it.

Today, I finally got around to installing the 136-amp Dodge Durango alternator.

Here are some pictures of the bracket grinding that I did:

It took some trial and error. I kept the thing bolted to the alternator for leverage, but also so that I could grind some, then check the fitment, and then grind some again if it wasn't right.

Eventually, I got it right, but it wasn't until night time that I got it all finished, so I'll have more pictures of the alternator installed another day.

I also put in a 175-amp fuse from the battery to the power distribution center, just to protect it. And because it was a perfect fit:

In the next few days, I will install the 4 gauge wiring to go with it. That should help the Jeep take better advantage of the higher amperage.

Nice.

Mine is doing well - never drops below 13v anymore, even with everything on full blast

Yeah nothing is touching my voltage anymore and no more alternator whining noises .

I ordered my 4-awg wire kit from 5-90 and should be expecting that in the mail soon.

Also another goodie... I found a police package EXT idle switch on Ebay, and I bought that as fast as I found it...

I burped the coolant today in the hopes of having hot heat again. I'll be testing it this week to see if it actually fixes anything.

Got this today:

It's going to be a nightmare wiring it though... I know nothing about electrical and I don't have the plug for it.

Black - Ground
Grey - to pin A12 on PCM
Blue - Ignition Switch Output "RUN" (12v power) [cigarette lighter is a good one, also the matching blue wire that runs to the a/c fan controls]
Orange - Dimmer Switch Power [any wiring that goes to a panel bulb]

It's not so bad if you stretch it right... but the problem is that the Florida heat combined with how hot the interior gets makes a sticky mess... plus sometimes it will come loose and the connection will fall apart. I just got tired of taking everything apart just to connect it altogether again.

When I worked for the power company here locally, we went through rolls of the stuff like it was toilet paper. But we'd stretch it and it actually works well in that application.

You're not doing anything WRONG by using elec tape. Just once you start using solder and tubing... you won't want to use anything else.

Got a freaking flat yesterday while I was on the highway. -.-

I drove over a huge bolt that was precariously perched upwards while I wasn't looking and had to get towed over to Tire Kingdom. Good news though is that they were able to patch it for $19.99.

I'm looking into some new tires soon. Probably some 33 inch of the new BFG Ko2s!
