It's been a whiiiilee.... Had some issues... Went wheeling and got stuck real bad (pics if you really wanna see em) but when I did that.. cracked my exhaust header and after that had to put in a new throttlebody positioning sensor... Also the interior lights wouldn't turn off but that somehow magically fixed itself after about 6 weeks of disconnecting my battery every time I parked.... Anyways I've been saving money and should have a enough for a lift after X
Xmas here's the plan

I know its overkill but I say Go Big Or Go Home

Rustys 4.5" with 2" shackles and spacers

Should run me about $800 + tax and shipping

What am I gonna need?

33s? 35s? And what about sye or an alternative?

Thanks for your time and help

-Drew

My buddy couldn't pull me out with his TJ so he just parked and shined his lights on me and snapped pics while we waited for my Dad

Ok guys, well I obviously started this thread a bit prematurely but can you blame me? From now on I should be able to post interesting updates.. Anyways Xmas rolled around and all I asked for was money.. Don't remember how much I ended up with but it doesn't matter.. A few days after Xmas me and my dad ended up doin this

I found a jeep that was bein parted out via Craigslist

My Dad in front of this XJ

Our goal was to pull the lift off of this XJ

The lift is a Rustys 6.5" and this is the second XJ it's been installed on.. The lift by itself I believe is 6 yrs old..

After pulling off the basically brand new 35s

Leafs again

After pulling off the shocks and coils

After the sway bar, discos and drop arm was off

Also pulled this homebrew fan shroud off for free..he said he fabbed it up one night after his fan took the tip of a finger off

Here's what I took pictures of after

Not pictured: Coils, rear shocks, HD Track Bar, 3" drop pitman arm, frame brace, sway bar with discos.

Everything besides control arms and u-bolts were in this deal... I got everything for $300

Also have a Champion 8000lb winch waiting for me at his house for $50

Thinkin about this bumper (fits winch) also... But need contol arms first

A few days after I bought the lift I got bored and got rid of the bushings in the leafs

All it took was a blow torch (wish I had an acetylene torch but I don't) and a sawzall

A few weeks back I had some money owed to me so I started lookin for tires... I ended up findin a set of BFG KM1s on Craigslist. 2 with about 50% left on and 2 with prolly 40%... So I was pumped... I text an call the guy and of course he doesn't respond... 3 days later he called!

If you look back at the first pics, you can see my 16" oem jeep rims that came with my xj... I tried selling those and am so glad I didn't!

Where I sit now...

I put everything I need In a cart on Rustys and figured I'm about $160 short

I need: Lower Long Control Arms
Leaf Spring Bushing replacement kit
Advanced Adapters SYE

Once I get that... I plan on installing with my XJs P.O. And his hoist.... Can't wait!

After that (In any order):
Exhaust Manifold,
Winch I mentioned earlier,
Bumper (want AJs offroad prerunner),
KC Hilites with rock guards,
New Speakers,
and I'm prolly getting a D-Ring hitch thing in a few days

Yeah it definitely rusty but I can just sand or steel wool or wire brush that off right? And then paint it again?

all the suspension components? you've got a lot of build up. you'll have to go back and forth between hand sanding and using a wire flap wheel. big PITA
I'd just take all the metal stuff and see if somewhere will give it a quick sand blast for a few $$
oh and you can get a real fan shroud at rockauto.com for like $14

Jeep looks good. As was said, take your time picking out parts. Rough Country has been nothing but issues on my TJ (I've only used their rear track bar and adj. rear uppers, but both have screwed me and since have been replaced with Currie stuff). It doesn't have to be top of the line, but there are MUCH better companies than RC.

Keep it coming!
