Nice mud shot man. I love it when you need to use your wipers after a good mud hole

Grizzly's pretty good... I like Cope every now and then, but my favorite is Skoal Wintergreen long cut

where to start....

alot has happened since my last update, from my front bumper getting ripped off to my jeep catching on fire... heres the run down.

ill start off with the good news, rear fenders trimmed, and jcr prerunner winch bumper is on the way!

bad news, front bumper got ripped off by an f150 one day in the mud.

my jeep has been bumperless for a while. completely tore up my whole front end... spent a little time and got everything back together and straightened out.

had the slaves help with that.

got that all back on and got the new jcr custom winch bumper ordered and everything was going good. so took it on a local trail one day for a little fun.

few days later meet up with a buddy who has a cherokee and we went out and had a bonfire and did a little wheeling.

then a few days later i decided to take a little drive, cruising at about 90 in stanton, TN. everything running great, temp guage just below 210.....

let off the gas and started slowing down, bunch of loud noises a clank and the motor revved up to about 6k... thought the throttle stuck so i shifted it in neutral real fast and cut the motor and pulled over and thats when i looked in the rear view and saw white smoke for miles, i ran out and popped the hood.... when i noticed my exhaust ignite a fire right underneath the tranny where the manifold bolts up to the cat. A guy in a z71 comes hauling my way, jumps out the truck and got his cooler and we dumped it on my motor, another guy comes running out of his house with a bucket of water and we got it out juat in time before the whole thing lit up.

i crawled under and see my transmission cracked in half dripping fluid everywhere..... and tansfer case dripping fluid. luckily the guy was willing to pull it to his house and let me park it there and i picked it up the next day with my buddys truck. Glad im safe and sound home now... wish i could say the same for the xj.

and thats about up to date... transmission and transfer case are completely gone. motor runs, but you have to put a bolt on the starter and my batteries dead. where the jeep sits now.... finally got all the mud off, all the tranny fluid drained, and rolled it into the garage. waiting on funds and im going to start figuring out what i want to do with it.

Dang, that's bad. Do you know why the trans cracked? Or was it just spontaneous?

No explanation to why it happened... My transmission simply commited suicide. Still in debate on what I'm going to do. Rebuilt auto trans and tcase will be around 1200..... Paying a shop to do everything will be around 2k.... Doing it myself and buying a 2wd parts jeep with a 5spd manual would be 800$, but not sure about 2wd trans on a 4wd....

Here's a picture I found the day before the fire. The mud that saved its life.

Regardless... Even paying a shop 2k would consume less resources than buying another XJ and doing a complete build swap. In both time, and money. Perhaps invest in a trans cooler this go around.
