If you do, I highly recommend using the autopals. I tried to cheap plastic ebay ones but they were a pain to work with. The dust from cutting the cheap plastic housings was terrible. Add to that, when trying to get the lens off, the glass would chip easily. The autopals lens came off the housing after about 8 mins in 300 degrees with a butter knife! It was a breeze compared to the plastic ones, granted they are about 15-20 more.
I've never done the H4 conversion so I cannot say. But what I can say is that in my opinion, using a quality projector lens and HID set up, nothing really rivals that light output for driving. All the street lamps use the same basic technology, same with gymnasiums... which is why the lights always take a minute to completely warm up and reach full luminescence.
