Well, I think this project is taking a new turn. I was over at a buddy's house picking up some Jeep parts and noticed he has a nice 98 XJ in his back lot. After talking back and forth, he said he'd cut me a deal on it. I guess it was fate because later that afternoon, I moved my XJ out of the garage and when the wife tried moving it back in...nothing. So my plan is buy the 98, throw my axles and lift under it, and have a nicer, newer XJ and stop beating myself senseless trying to get this Renix straight.

So not much progress being made on the Jeep. Been slowly pulling parts off of it to save for the new XJ. In other news, my little brother picked up an 01 XJ for $2000. Needs a cooling system flush. Ive in the process of pulling the radiator and replace water pump, t stat, and flushing everything. hopefully after I get my brothers back on the road, I can get back into tearing mine down.

Well, I haven't been on here in a while. Been super busy with the Jeep and work. But Ive finally got the axles pulled. Trying to sell the Jeep so I can bring the next one in. I pulled a couple parts to keep for spares. But overall, the teardown was pretty straight forward. I did have issues getting my long arms out since I don't have air at my house. I ended up having to support the trans and remove my Iron Rock cross member and replace it with a 2x4. Sketchy, I know. But I didn't have many options. So now I have both axles out, its time to clean them up and make sure everything is good on the before I put them in a new Jeep. Im going to check every bushing, ball joints, u-joints, etc. My only problem now is I want to do discs in the rear and would rather do it before putting the axle in the Jeep. I haven't been able to find a lot of info about drum to disc conversions for the Dana 44 that has been helpful. I do know the the 8.8 from an Explorer coms with discs and is supposed to be a good axle. I know its c clip, but I feel like it could be a good swap. Any input is appreciated. Now onto the pictures.

Well, to the few that have been following this build, the Jeep is out of my garage. I pulled the engine and sold it. Sold the Dana 44, sold the shell, and sone miscellaneous parts in between. I still have the trans and transfer case. Gonna clean them up and sell them. I kept both fans, a spare horn, alternator, my front CAD D30, my lift, front bumper, and my wheels and tires. But my 99 is being delivered Saturday so my wife is happy to have a week with no Jeep in the garage. Hopefully the 99 won't be in the garage as long as the 89 was.
Here is my new (to me) 99 XJ. I will start a new build thread once I get it in the garage
