Default Back to life...

Long story short, a minor problem with no time/place to fix has left my poor XJ sitting for 13 months. The old Value Craft battery was starting to wane before she sat, so that is obviously toast. Has over half a tank of gas I put some basic treatment in. Oil leak at the rear main and she was getting close to due for a change before she sat.

Blizzard here in VA recently (flurry in Northern states I am sure) has reminded me that I desperately need my old lady going again. Our little sport compacts (wife's Sonic RS and my Veloster Turbo) made for some white knuckles in barely 2 inches of snow/slush.

What am I looking at for a critical resurrection? Drain fuel? Obviously an oil change and new plugs to be safe. Drop of MMO in each cylinder overnight. Crank with plugs out to flow oil. Put everything back together.

I have also had part of the brake fluid reservoir empty from a burst line. Precautions here?

Many thanks!

Put a battery in it. Check the fluids and start it up.

That simple? What about the old fuel?

Add some fresh to it if that concerns you.

I'll certainly add fresh. I was just worried I would need to drain the old out. If I can just run it through though, I don't mind!

Thank you sir!

Blizzard? What blizzard? I got 30 inches, but no wind where I am. Good thing, too, or the power would have gone out.

Okay, back to the Jeep. What kind of treatment did you put in it? If it was Stabil, you are probably just fine. If not, and you are worried about it, get some Start from your local Lowes or wherever, and have at it.

Check your grounds, too. Sitting is not kind.

As for the RMS leak... well, it may not be. Check Cruiser's tips on that, but whatever it is, try some AT-205. It stopped my power steering and transmission leaks (both were pretty bad), and slowed WAY down my front main seal leak on my van. Night and day difference, from a bad leak to a slight weep that I can live with for now. On my Jeep's engine, it did nothing to my valve cover leak, but then, I didn't really expect it to. No, it's not magic, and it doesn't always work, but it usually does and it's cheap to try.

Agreed that the old gas is not a problem. I'm more concerned with the empty brake reservoir. Go ahead and fill and bleed but you may be looking at a new master cylinder. Luckily they are not expensive.
Best of luck!
