I know I lived there for 4 years but when I did my truck remained registered in NY. There I have no obligation to follow California smog laws. Now if the Highway Patrol wanted to pull me over and spot check me he could still but that is very unlikely and never happened while I lived there. I also don't press my luck and draw attention to myself. Other than the waking up the neighbors with my 4.5" straightpipe exhaust turbo back lol

The problem with Ca is that they are now being allowed to pass "Ex post facto" laws like the new diesel emissions law. It is absolutely unconstitutional and they should have been reamed for it. They can pass these laws but they can only affect new vehicles coming out the year after the law was passed, it cannot be applied "retroactive" like they did this one on the diesels.

They broke the law in two ways. They cannot force existing engines to comply to the new law, and they cannot refuse vehicles from other states entry because their smog laws happen to be different. Ca did both. They should have been sued right away for even trying this, they would have lost hands down.

Now they think they can get away with it on everything, like making gun laws retroactive. Nope it is flat out unconstitutional and this needs to change because other states see that Ca is getting away with it so they do it too.

Good news is that the "big one" (talking about earthquakes) is going to happen and suck all of CA to the center of the earth to burn and/or split us apart from the rest of the US. Then you guys wont have to worry/complain about how bad it is here haha.

They are ruthless and relentless, they never give up. Jerry Brown will be swimming the channel with those bills in his mouth to come infect us. lol

Know what man? If their crap was actually legal and stayed in Ca. it wouldn't be our place to complain at all, it would be their business alone. But they make sure they spread this crap they start across the country like a plague. Look at the assault weapons ban for example, pure ignorance based on deceptive fiction that started in Ca. Now they have spread these lies based on pure fiction across the whole country and infected everyone. Now it is our business because they are in our face with it. Now we have a right to ***** about the source and who and is behind it.

I'll get back on topic but check it out... They even have the supreme court intimidated. It's serious stuff.

I completely agree with you! And yes the gun laws for this year are something else. Dont even want to go there. Why do you think I have an AZ ID? Walk in to the store, walk out with a gun. Simple as that.

Temporary o2 fix has been done. The o2 sensor was very very very hard to get out. Like rust welded itself in. Had to take a 3ft breaker bar to it and thought I was going to break my special o2 wrench. The sensor itself did not look to be in the best condition, had some rust on the tip of it. So it might actually just be a bad sensor. I will replace it one of these days. But anyways, here is the temporary contraption I made. And dont mind the ugly welds. My welding mask took a dump on me so I had to weld blind.

Ok, I dont want to hear it from some of you, but it has been too cold to drive the Jeep since I have no heater. Ya winter has finally hit CA. Its been in the high 30s on my way to work and mid 40s on my way home. So I should get some time and warmer weather this weekend to put some miles on it to see if my temporary fix temporarily fixed it.

Well my o2 fix didnt go as planned. 40 miles in to it, the check engine light comes back on. But it was not for cat efficiency like last time. Instead, sensor high input. So the o2 sensor finally took a dump. I went to Autozone and got a new one and installed it without my temporary fix thingy. Back to putting miles on it in hopes the code stays away with a new sensor.

Also, I pulled the stock fender flares from my white Jeep out of the shed and painted them black. This is in prep to go on the silver Jeep. The ones that are on it are in pretty bad condition. Going to order a new front bumper and all bumper caps and should look like a new Jeep again. Bumpers, bumper caps and flares will all be black instead of the factory silver. Still debating if I am going to paint the grille black too.

And another 40 miles in with the new o2 sensor, check engine light is back on. Cat efficiency again. Put the temporary fix back on, cleared the code and we will see what happens. Not looking forward to buying new cats...

I did happen to get some parts from lowrange2. New blend door motor and a bulb socket for my running light. No more rapid fire blinker and the heaters blend door works again besides not having the heater core hooked up. Heater core install coming soon...

Well we will see what the new o2 and the temporary fix contraption does. Might be the winning combo, hopefully. It was a bit chilly this morning, so I didnt drive the Jeep to work. Its supposed to be pretty cold all week so dont know when I will put more miles on it to find out. At least we will be getting some good rain and snow this week!

Put a smudge pot in it and roll the windows down a little. lol that leads to a story of course or there might be a question mark.

An old timer truck driver friend of mine used to live down in the central valley. He as telling me that when he and other truck owners were hauling fresh produce from the fields to southern ca back in the 50's most of their heaters didn't work. So if it was cold they would grab up a smudge pot from a field and borrow it for the trip to knock the chill off. He said everyone was black head to toe all the time. lol

I asked him why didn't they just fix the heaters? He told me that those early gas and diesel rigs would run too hot with a thermostat in them, so they left them out and never had time to put one in just for a few weeks of the year down there. That was when this country had tougher truck drivers.

Haha I will pass on the smudge pot. I would rather get a power inverter and hook up a small electric heater.
