i think its sick! as for your fenders your gonna want to cut out a much of it as you possible can! pre-runners or baja trucks get alot of suspension travel. and like you said, its all about your budget! so do what you can and im sure it'll look amazing! ide slap 2 inc hcoil spaces in the front for that raised front look

what have you thought about for front suspension?
solid axle prerunner isnt really the best format. not say it wont work or anything. but it will make you a little more unstable at high speeds off road.

Because of how an XJ is set-up doing an IFS isn't really feasible. Its doable, but the amount of fab work involved would be ridiculous. the best thing to do IMO would be to keep the solid dummy axe up front and do you can to keep the unsprung weight down. yes a solid front axle isn't the best pre-runner set-up but you gotta make do with what you've got.

understood. i would just be cautious at least until you know how it will act off road. one wheel goes up, the other is forced down. sometimes thats very hard to handle at high speeds.

looking forward to the build

It can be, but there's a pro-fab company out west who runs trophy trucks. they made a pre-runner/parts getter out of a Commanche, yes everyone realized that a Yota would make a better base platform but with the right driving skill and style I think you could definitely make a great mild pre-runner out of an XJ.

True, it's not the best setup, but look at all the JeepSpeed rigs, those things are sick!

Yeah if any of you guys follow KOH they all use solid front axles. Now they are crawling so they need it but they still can go upwords to 80mph. shannon campbell rig from last year was independent but we really did not get to see how that all worked out. Just look at Jason Scherer rig! Now i know it is a tube chassis buggy but you can use the ideas for your XJ. The front and rear suspension is vary well done so take a look at it!

Heck yeah, KOH and JeepSpeed are good things to look at for good rigs and builds.

Nice looking rig.I'm not gonna argue about the bondo, but why not get fiberglas filler? It won't absorb moisture and it's stronger.I believe they are about the same price.

that is funny you say that because we are going to have my other brother in law (this ones brother) fiberglass it because he shapes surf boards and was like...."dude i'll just glass it, its way better.."
