Default Pre-Runner Build

I am building a Pre-runner for my little brother - in law. This is a 1996 2WD XJ 4DR AUTO. It's also going to be some free advertising for where i work since he lives on the other side of the state. so any input/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

your going to use bondo on the floor?!?!?!?!?

and how are you making a ''pre runner'' out of a 4.5'' lift kit?

Why would bondo on the floor be a bad thing if he's putting carpet back over it?

it is just a few tiny holes. im only going to fill them in it looks worse in the pics than it really is. And yes the 4.5" kit will allow him to run some narrow 33's with minor trimming. whats wrong with doing that?

because bondo doesnt stop rust and if the holes are rotted all the way through, the second bondo gets wet it swells up and falls apart and makes more rust

and i dont see how a basic 4.5'' kit makes it a 'pre runner'

look up what a pre runner is

a 6.5'' long arm kit, coilovers with remote rez's and a full roll cage and full skids would be more like a pre-runner

Who says he's not going to wire wheel all the rust off? then bondo and rattle can it? If done right you can use bondo for stuff like that with no problem...why do you think they use it on the outside of cars?

because its sealed under 3/16'' of paint, and if its used over holes be prepared to be looking for another body shop and another paint job

exactly.

And we are in Florida bro, even if he had the money for long arms and coilovers he wouldnt need it. besides it is really more to look good than anything but still capable so he can wheel a little. so i gues we can call it a "wanna be pre-runner" hahaha

I'm sorry but your logic fails. Its in the FLOOR PAN. HELLO! If he uses bondo and does it right. meaning that he gets all the rust off beforehand. then uses bondo, sands it flush(doesn't have to look good cause it'll be under carpet) and uses a can of rubber undercoating on the bottom and some good rattle can paint on the top he'll be fine.

well if its called a pre runner build it should be built into a pre runner.....

if i called my jeep a rock crawler build and lowered it and put 20''s on it i would get the same responce and that is actually prtetty much what youre doing

Maybe since it is called a pre runner build, it just might be...... maybe i dunno...., a pre runner when it's done! I did JUST start getting the cash flow for this build. Oh and remember a 17 year old junior in high school who works a Publix (grocery store for those of you who aren't fortunate enough to know the greatness that is) part time is paying for this $150 bucks at a time.

If thats how you're gonna be
Here's a good course of action for you to take:

Read this two threads:

http://www.race-dezert.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4123

http://www.performancetrucks.net/for...d.php?t=426424

Pull your head out of your rear end.

And stay away from Cherokee Forum till you can play nice.
