Talking Overland Cherokee

I picked up this 1990 Cherokee Limited yesterday off Craigslist for $800. It runs and drives, just about everything works. It already has a 2" lift on 31x10.50 All Terrain tires. She needs a few things but overall is in good shape for being 23 years old.

To Do List:

Replace Steering Gear Box
Replace Harmonic Balancer
Recharge A/C with 134
Install Roof Rack Bars
Install CVT Roof Top Tent
Build Storage system
Install ARB Fridge
Install Water tank/pump
Build Snorkel Intake System

I'm picking up the roof rack bars today and the Roof Top Tent will be mounted up tomorrow. I will update this thread at least twice per week to show repairs and upgrades.

Highly suggest you don't use the OEM crossbars for the RTT mounting. Find yourself some Thule or Yakima bars/guttermounts.

Yes, this is why I said I was picking up roof bars later today. I'm getting a Yakima roof rack set up from a friend tonight. I wouldn't never use those little plastic things for mounting a roof top tent.

Picked up the Yakima roof rack bars and installed them. Also installed my CVT Roof Top Tent. Will be building a storage system in the back with my ARB Fridge.

I replaced some ground wires and the battery cables today. Now she starts up every time without a hiccup.

Cool looking tent. I'm guessing this XJ is gonna be camping and other outdoor stuff?

I'm actually going to be living out of this Cherokee for a few months starting Sept 1st. It will be set up for long road trips.

I will build a storage unit with a slide out shelf for the fridge and then it can go in the Jeep.

I will also be building my own snorkel and sealed filter box this weekend. Pics will be posted as I build these projects.

See if you can find a third Yakima crossbar to prevent the RTT floor from drooping..

I have a third bar already. If drooping is an issue then I will just move the 2 bars closer together. I've had the tent on multiple vehicles for the last year and haven't had a problem yet but thank you for bringing up the issue.
