Default not just a project. a restoration

So I bought this jeep today for $600. Drove 40 miles home and it did beautifully. Has a transmission leak and oil leak. That's it. Cruise control works, windows work, lights work, radio works, and transfer case works.

My plan is to first restore it. Then make it a bad *** 4x4

Ripped the carpet out the back. Found quite a lot of corrosion.

Not a bad start, especially on the wallet.

Let me guess ... '91 Laredo, right? :P

You got a solid deal. I paid $850 for my '91 Laredo and yours is honestly a little bit cleaner than mine. I'm a little jealous. I also feel your pain about the rusty floors. I yanked up my driver's side carpet today, and my driver's side floor pan is just about as bad as your rear cargo floor (thanks to the damn vent windows and dry-rotted seals).

Ripped up passenger side carpet. To my surprise there IS a floor. Not much of one but it's there

Just wire brushed the cargo area out. More holes will appear when I sand it

You've been braver than me and ripped the whole interior out, I had a wet spot in the trunk so ripped up the carpet, half an hour later and most of the floor is gone. I haven't checked the front footwells yet, save that joy for tomorrow.

Well I figure if it's worth doing, then it's worth over doing

Upon ripping the gas tank out I forgot to disconnect the fuel pump so when I disconnected the hoses I basically got a bath in gasoline. But at least it's out. I'll let it air out overnight and the cutting will begin tomorrow hopefully

So here's all what I did today

Cut as much metal as possible out so it'd be easier to pry it away from the frame

Then used a hammer and chisel to brake the spot welds
