What pushed me to get rid of the '91 I had was the condition of the floorpans and actual frame where the front leaf spring perches weld up. Totally ruined. I'm not a welder by any means. Doesn't mean I wouldn't like to learn, but not on a project like that where good welds and workmanship are critical. Better just to sell it to whoever could make that particular XJ work for them and move on to something solid.
Perfect example of why I hate Bondo. Jeep was hit in drivers side at some point in its life and a terrible body shop did this genius repair. This may have jeopardized the entire build...
