Yeah I'm just gonna crank the crap out of it and see if that works. I think I'm gonna try and get at least part of that tailpipe in the muffler so it can't really slide off the end of there

got some done today. got all the heat wrap done, and everything bolted up. had to move the computer box for clearance. should be done tomorrow! also dropped oil pan and welded oil drain bung to it, and hook it up, as well as the pol feed T on the oil pressure sensor

pretty much done!!!
started her up and she runs great!
still gotta make a brace for it. turns out that i wasn't building any boost and it sounded like the wasetgate was open even at idle...figured out i installed the fire ring backwards on the wastegate flange so the piston isn't seated and holding pressure, so gonna flip it around and should be good to go!!!!!
will post a video soon!!!to get to this point ive spent about 60 hours in the garage working on it for about 3 weeks. definetly longer then i expected. total cost was about $700 after the kit and all the miscellaneous stuff

dude i live kinda near to you we gotta meet up sometime i wana see this thing. i would have never expected someone to do this. props big time. your really making me want to throw my s1b turbo on my xj now.
Dude this is right up my alley! Came from turboed inline 6's...1j's & 2j'z!
Recirculate that dump! That will take care of some heat & would sound a bunch better! Ceramic coat those pipes..don't wrap them! Wrap will just get hard, crusty and fall apart over a year or so! Been through it 100x now lol..too much heat for it!
And make sure you run a intercooler...I'd run meth injection as well! Would help greatly with intake charge temp & exhaust/engine temp! Meth is a god send to the turbo world in my eyes!
We used to spray just rubbing alcohol from the dollar store no lie! Cheap and does the same job & its already a 50/50 mix pretty much!

you sound like you know your stuff! yea i just didn't know/coulnd't afford to ceramic coat the pipes. also, i like the sound of an open wastegate dump
considering doing some ghetto setup for meth injection instead of intercooler. there barely any room! i still need to put my air filter on!!!!

Ya meth will save you from needing an intercooler to a point. Your gonna hit a wall at some point...and from there it will be E85, race gas ect. You can get by without a intercooler on a low boost setup but you'll need one eventually.
Open dumps got old to me...but then again I was hearing mine daily lol. Wonder how it sounds on the 4.0

My favorite thing about meth is you'll never have carbon build up. The meth litterally steam cleans the motor

lol. eventually i might make ab bigger downpipe, so ill tie it in then . but for now...time to smoke some ricers
