Default New Jeeper building a DD/Wheeler

Alrighty, I bought this 1991 xj Limited off of craigslist for $500. And was able to drive it back, which is amazing for the price.
Pros:

It's already lifted.
Has a custom bumper on it.
Motor and Tranny (tested only to 35 mph) both seem to be in good condition.
Tires are almost brand new, they have so much tread still!
Full size spare.
Power everything and leather seats.

Cons:

No carpet/headliner.
Failing Starter.
Radiator has very small leak.
Front Differential was run dry after destroying both pinion bearings.
Poor sound system. (not that big of a deal. haha)

I am trying to keep the entire build under $1000, including purchase price if possible. That said, I need a new front axle and without researching (stupid me) went out and bought Dana 30 and amc 20 wide tracks off an 85 CJ-7.
They are 4 3/4" narrower than stock xj axles plus the D30 is passenger drop on the cj. Can I swap mounts and run the D30 from the cj, if I find a passenger drop transfer case? or run the axle with the drop on the driverside anyway? or should I just sell the cj axles and find a junkyard?
I only have the two pictures right now, but more soon! Right now I am just trying make it drive-able.

Will a 97-99 xj axle just bolt right up? Or some modding required?

So I just got done putting in a new radiator and valve cover gasket. I believe that will pretty much solve the engine work. I'm still looking for a suitable axle, the closest pull and save or pick a part is 3 hours away. And junkyard wants 400 for one, I know nothing. Is that a decent price? And yeah that dif. Is killer. But for 500 I was expecting a beater. And at least the motor purrs and tranny seems to work well. Although when I went to get it registered, I found out that it is actually a 1990. I don't think there were big differences between the years.
