mig is easy----ONCE you have someone show you how to set it up---- its just that little catch right there.
this might help but since you got the pattern down for the stick welder... get a thinner rod (not sure what you were using but a thin 6011 will work- you can get all the way down to 1/16) ALWAYS keep ur heat on the thicker metal the work your way onto the thinner sheet metal... kinda like pushing the puddle onto the sheet metal from the tubing (in this case)... thats all i got for ya bud... good luck
Ive got the smallest rod i can find! 5/64ths. Yes i just need practice. But thanks for the input brotha! Ill def try it!!Originally Posted by Turbo-LT1

MIG or "wire-fed" is the easiest of welding. I still like ARC (stick) on heavy stuff.
The trick with MIG welding is knowing how to set up your amps wirefeed rate and gas for each type of weld wether it be thick thin or combination.
Look online for a chart that tells you how to set up for each, then on some test pieces, fine tune your bead and speed of your lines.
also try making half moons instead of circles on certain welds it can make a prettier weld, and pretty welds mean strong welds!!!
all in all great job! hope to see more of this build soon!!!!!

i better!
my build thread is pretty empty right now with the money i spent on my 4.7. but its well worth it, id be willing to bet my stroker is the strongest and most powerfull I6 on here. im very proud of it. but at $3100 it had better be!!!
After the stroker im saving for the Iron Rock 8" long arm lift. I see pics of XJ's with it flexing and it's like Jeeporn lol
im starting on my "Cherokamper" now too. soon to be available for others if it turns out nice!!!

im getting the stroker this month so hopefully it will be nice enough outside to put it in.
mines got all forged internals and a very high duration and lift cam.
and much higher compression for my dual fuel propane conversion.
im lookin at a possible 350+ HP on the propane. and even though its been debated, an estimated 35+ MPG on propane. gotta use premium octane gas though when im not running it LP
im interested on how it will fare at the track on 35's and the lift lol
P.S. forged means i can put the nitrous to it and not worry about blowin it up!!!
doubt i will though. nice to know i can.
wish i would have dont other upgrades first but my engine was goin to **** and i figured do it now since it needs it.

Okay, so i spent a couple hours today in the garage today! Made my mounts for my coil springs. they'll sit on the axle and go over the radius arms. pretty simple. I drove my truck all over them earlier and had a video of it. To test my welds! And they were holding great. anyway, a few pics. Not totally complete. Gonna add some gussets of some sort, and i gotta trim em down a lil and make it so they'll wrap the axle. But here's a little just so you get the idea.

Heres the newest update
broke down on the side of the road. Went out wheelin. Re-bent my tie rod and alt. Just took a shat
