Really stupid question: What's the point of swapping out axles? Stronger and better?

It's not a stupid question! I used to not know the point either. Well when you start running large tires you put a lot of stress on weak axle parts. Especially the inside axle shafts when wheeling. Stock axles are 27 spline and you can upgrade the inner axles by swapping axles. The Dana 44 and 8.8 I think are 31 spline which is bigger in diameter. Some people choose to upgrade just the axle shafts in the sock axles instead if swapping. Another reason axles need strength, is when a locker is installed it puts the full power to both shafts, and you really risk breaking them if you're running large tires.

Finally got to wheel this beast. It Did so good. Trimmed a couple inches off the fenders and no cutting of tires. Rubs the wheel well a little tho.
Night wheeling is 100 times better.
