Today I braved the cold and put on my new crossmember, 1" drop spacers, and transmission mount. Not too much of a hasstle rung one bolt off but no biggie it'll be ok. Thanks to cherokeeaddiction23 for helping me wrestle my drivetrain to line up.

New crossmember and drop spacers

I know! There is a small rust hole on the underside I need to pop rivet some 8 gauge sheet metal over and bedline it so it's comin soon enough!

Did you ever fix the broken X member bolt?

If not, they are not too hard to get out. welding a piece of bar to to the broken part and then cooling it with oil makes the seized bolt shrink really fast. you can un-thread it right out.

I have also found that if you get a 7/16 20 tap and 7/16-20 grade 8 bolts about 2-2.5" long you can drill out the old threads and re tap them for the 7/16 thread. The tap will say what size drill to use. Its a simple fix and far more reliable in the long run.

It would really suck to get something hung under there and peel back your cross member on the trail. I have seen this happen before with barbed wire. It ended up ripping the cross member free and it was a small disaster on the trail.... in the rain.... miles from home..... I really miss college LOL

Looks great

Thanks a lot! I have actually been thinking about that again lately and the bar and oil technique seems like a pretty good idea. Here soon I'm gonna have to get up underneath it and do some small rust hole repair so maybe when I do that I will try the bar and oil.

Thanks! yeah I plan on next week to buy a hood from the JY and cut nice big vents in it and paint it flat black just so I have a trail hood and my nice hood. Then I'm gonna buy some ~2" blocks for the front from Cherokeeaddiction23 so I can see if I want to have a more JeepSpeed look.
