hey guys, sorry for leaving you hanging. I bought a DD, and as you guys that followed this build I have the worst luck with projects and my new DD blew up on me. so I spent like 3 straight weeks under the car. it is very close to being rapped up, and figured Id get back on to keep you guys in the loop.

I drive the jeep to school everyday, but currently I am badly in need of a rear O2.
if anyone has one for free/trade/giveaway/dirt cheap let me know. I had like 4 of them and gave them away to members, but then the one I kept turned out to be for a 99 and not a 97. which I learned the hard way is different. I have been dumping fuel and running in limp mode since we pulled the jeep out. some of the local guys said that it runs like the front O2 is also going out but the only CEL I have right now is the rear, so we'll see.

I have also been wheeling like a dozen times as well. it has outdone all of the local rigs. I even pulled a ZJ, attached to a dual axle trailer, hauling a awd car through a foot of mud. so she has got the power thats for sure.

right now my wish list goes
02 sensor
tires for my 'street/DD' wheels
RAD trans shifter (99 nss isnt liking my 97 ecu)
new tcase linkage. (99 242 also isnt liking being in a 97)

all of that is like under $200 so its not an unreachable goal, but i have been beyond broke since I invested my last cash on a DD that bit it.

I really need to get you guys some vids, but as far as the motor, even being in limp mode, on my tractor tires I ran my buddy's 99 on street tires and had like 8 lengths in the 1/8th mile. so an obvious, measurable improvement and most of my go fast stuff is still not installed (DTB, N2O,tires, locker, etc)

hey, guys.

well first off I have been crazy busy with my half-a$$ rally car.

but to clear up some ignorance, "the things of lore" are all true. if anyone would like to see how the jeep runs it can prove itself anytime, however calling me a liar is a quick way to get smacked.

so haters gonna hate. and now that thats enough from guys that are never even wheeling with the 'lore' I have made progress on tidying up some loose ends.

with the pic above, I went out wheeling and when I went through a pretty deep hole the wiring for the pump gave, and being wet it also caused the belt to slip. nothing unusual. just threw the belt on a tightened it down, and ran a new jumper for the pump while 'the big boys' were getting winched.

now that Im done defending myself in my own thread. I have finished my exhaust for the most part. I ceramic coated the header, downpipe, and intake manifold. cut the ball and socket, and put in a vband coupler. made a 2.5" mandrel SS downpipe. the exhaust is now 2.5 from the borla collector clear to the exhaust tip. the intake was trimmed with all the webbing removed, then ceramic coated, and then heat reflect-ant material was put on the under side of the manifold. the only thing left for the exhaust is I need to wrap the header, and add a last layer of ceramic coat to finish it up.

I have already seen extreme improvements with the coatings and such. my old logs showed IATs of over 150+ with the intake sitting on the header the intake temps would normally reach toward 200. today my temps were at 90. thats a minimum of 60* drop and I still havent added the header wrap. Im hoping that with the wrap and a better intake pipe I will get much closer to ambient temps.

another huge step that has been taken is I have wired in my switches for the trans. I now can control the aw4 manually. right now it is just using 2 switches, but an actual controller will be fitted very soon.

the last big step was I got the AEM all wired in. It actually has an o2 emulator, which also helped me fix that issue as well. I now have the ability to plug in my laptop, and tune the jeep as I drive it. this also give me the ability to add fuel, and pull timing so I can run the N20. this still needs a TON of work, as its a trial by error kind of deal. its basically just being dealt with one cell at a time. I hit a small hiccup, as my wideband 02 sensor vibrated loose and got caught on the driveshaft, so I have to wire in a new 02 harness.

as of today I also got my rims, and street tires, but I havent put them on due to it being so late in the year.

as far as what I have left. I finally had some more stuff get picked up. which by my last post, puts the build total at $1240. I was thinking it was a bit lower, but thats what I came up with.

with the upcoming fixes I have left.
I have to get the final trans controller mounted.
get the tune 100% (rewire the wideband)
then that just leaves me with the n20
I also still need to redo the tcase linkage

after those minor things Ill be good for a while, as most of my focus is on my turbo car right now. the remainder wish list is front+rear elockers. when spring hits it will get the street wheels thrown on, and re-tinted.

lol, I havent used a right up.

non the less, its pretty simple, you just tap into the solenoid wires. I tapped into them under the dash, to run the least amount of wire.

right now im just running 2 simple switches, but I thats just while im waiting on my actually gear selector.

Wait, this thing runs 11's on the 1/4 mile? Wow that is insane! I have a track only BMW E30 with a boosted inline 6 on 25psi that I just broke into the 11's after years of tuning, would you mind sharing some of your tuning engine build details. I really would love to see what the VE of your head is. Who does your machine work?

Really interested thanks!

never said the jeep ran 11s. that was nothing more than hopeful guesses, back before the motor even ran. however i have everything to run 14s right now. with the N20 it should make a huge difference. then In "track" trim I dont see why breaking into the 11s is impossible. a couple huge differences is the jeeps love to yank you out of the hole. sub 2 second 60 fts are the baseline. at the same time I wont be surprised if I get stuck in the 12.5s, but a jeep 12.5 at the track, is still 12.5 on the street. where most cars gain a second or 2 when they hit the street.

this is my true passion. turbo, inline 4, awd, 5 speed. I got the base setup complete on the rally-fart but there is still lots to go.

on topic, I got my O2 simulator to work, and got some more tuning done with the aem. with the o2 worked out everything is going much smoother.
