Well the new fuel filter seems to have done the trick! But now that it's getting a bit warmer my temp gauge is just over the 210 mark. Warmer than I remember it being last year. What does everyone else's sit at? I know the xj's are prone to overheating so I want to try and tackle that if it's even going to be an issue before it actually becomes one.

I'm just about positive I have a small leak somewhere. I slowly lose coolant, but luckly enough, our XJ's dont have the 0331 head, and I know there isn't any coolant in the oil, and it doesn't puddle under the jeep after being parked for a while.
As long as it stays right around 210 (plus or minus a couple degrees), I'm not gonna worry about it too much.

I see this is an old post but I bought my xj with a saggy headliner. so I tore all that out and replaced it with a camo headliner< I bought the glue at oreilly auto parts "cheap and works great" about 70$ to do the whole headliner. it looks really sweet!

Ok I wont worry about it too much unless it starts to get higher. Just flushed the radiator at work so I've got some fresh coolant in there too. Thanks guys!

i just had a my renix's coolant flushed and a new 195 thermostat. On the highway to school going 65mph for 5+ hours it has gone a little over than 210, but never past the third marker and this past drive was warmer than the rest since the change and it didn't get past 210. I'm also still closed and they are known for having odd issues.

So I was driving today on the highway and since I still have 3.55s and a big wind catcher (the roof rack) and it was crazy windy I was struggling to maintain 65 mph on the road so it kept on down shifting up and down to try and stay at 65. A friend who was driving behind noticed I was smoking pretty bad so we pulled over and found out I had ATFdripping on the exhaust and all over the pan and around the rear main seal. The tranny is still full and as I was limping it around I noticed the it started to drip less and less. Havent had a chance to wipe everything off but I had someone start it and give it some gas and didn't notice any fluid leaking. I will try and get some pictures and wipe it down but off the top of your head you guys think of common stuff it could be?

Well I double checked the fluid and it wasn't even a 1/4 qt low. Topped it off of course but at least I know it didn't drop all the tranny fluid lol. It has only leaked a literal drop from the same area after getting up to operating temp. Correct me if I'm wrong but I read in a couple of places that if the transmission overheats it can puke up excess fluid through a vent near the bell housing? As far as I can tell that's what happened because it was repeatedly shifting up and down trying to stay a decent speed. And like I said before there has literally been a drop of ATF from the same area (which was how it was before). It shifts perfectly fine with nothing out of the ordinary. I'm starting to think that it may be alright after all!!! lol

So I'm saving to get my diffs re-geared and upon doing a little research I have come across people saying everything from stock gears and 31's is perfect to go to 4.56's What are your guys thoughts on this? I have my eye on 32's or 3s eventually (this summer maybe?) so I would like to plan accordingly. According to the gearing calculators on the interwebs 3.88s is as close to stock for 31's as you can get. With 32's its roughly 4.01 and 33's about 4.10. I don't need really low gearing but low enough to cope with a 32-33" tire in the relatively near future. What would you guys suggest?

If you're looking to stay with 31s then don't waste your time. If you want to go 32-33s you can try to find some 4.10 XJ axles at a local yard or craigslist to help save money. 33s and 4.56 would be great for the trails, 4.10 on the highway. Your lift netted you around 4"s easily but i'm sure it's because it's new, but 32s should fit easy and 33s with some trimming.
