My build From Canada EH!
Hey all, this is my first Jeep ever owned, but throughout my childhood Jeeps were common throughout the family. So i'm technically not new to them but mechanical wise...I come from the Honda scene so it's an adjustment and I hope you guys will help me through the tough days!(i have no doubts)
So I bought her off a guy who lived on a farm and she basically sat there for quite some time. There was lots of rust on the roof and a few holes as well. Being new to any type of body work I thought i'd hit the local canadian tire and buy some body working materials...boy did I have fun lol I really enjoy working on the truck and it will be my winter DD and light offroader.
Specs:
1994 Cherokee Sport 2dr 4x4
5 speed 4.0L I-6
222000KM

The damage:
-Well the owner said it need's a front u-joint and brake shoes to pass safety. I have already ordered the brake shoes and a pair of new wipers to go with it for 60 bucks.
-Rust

Soooooooo dirty! lol Does all that rust under the body affect the suspension much? I'm thinking of spraying it with some rust remover.
Update/ There's play in the steering wheel I think it might be the steering stabilizer?

that's actually not bad for a canadian find from a field.
just hit that roof line with a grinder and flap disc go 80 or 100 grit and be careful.
you can buy new replacement rockers from cross canada, or just cut them out and weld in some tube rock rails.
as for the steering, you'll upgrade anyways.
check the rear seal on the transfercase, it's probably leaking by the looks of it. cheap and easy fix.
other than that, grease every zerk and fix what needs fixed and start there.
good score...

Thanks Caged..thats a good bit of info right there that i'll use. I actually finished the roof yesterday but wasn't able to get the pics on the pc. The nice break in weather gave me just enough days to finish priming and painting. I'm definatley going to take a look at the seal for the TC . I might just fibreglass the holes on the rockers for this year and weld in tube ones the next! I'll get those pics up tonight.

Holy geeze thats alot of rust. Good luck with the build, dont get discuraged. I had a full size Bronco in about the same condition. I scrapped it after about a month of fighting rust. Wish I'd stuck it out now. Nice finding a two door too. My rockers on my XJ are gone or will be after this winter season too. Currently fabbing some tube ones to replace them. Its actually quite simple. Mounting them is still in the think tank though.

Initially I thought it wouldn't work but I was very optimistic and i'm more then happy with what i've accomplished so far. I like your idea bout tube sides..I just have no metal working tools/skills what so ever lol
I'll be just filling in the holes on the rockers today. Using some fibreglass and body filler..then i'm going to cover the rockers in a texturized rubberish paint!
