Default MY 94 XJ very slow build.

So I've been checking out the forum for awhile now. And after my oldest daughter got side swiped in her Saturn. I thought the best option for me was to let her have my 2011 impreza and I would find me a cheep jeep to drive and work on. I have to have hobby or I would go crazy being laid off all winter with nothing to do.
So for a jeep I found a 94 xj 4dr with 116000 miles on the ticker. The PO was asking 1600 for it I ended up talking him down to a 1000 because of the really rusty floor pans.
So far I've replaced both front hubs and axle u-joints because I was already in there seemed like the right time to do it.
New valve cover gasket.
And heater control valve.
My plans for the xj are pretty much a DD and some mild trails, hunting, fishing rig.
For a lift I'm going rusty offroad 3in advanced kit with sway bar disco's.
Tire's goodyear duratracs 31x10.50x15.
Rusty offroad front and rear pre=runner bumpers.
Lock the front and rear axle's.
Then the jeep should be good to go.
One more thing replace all floor pans and cargo area.
I did run into the problem with the jeep just shutting off for no reason so I went threw and cleaned all grounds and sensors. And the problem has went away.
For some reason my jeep doesn't sag in the rear. The rear is about 1 1\2 in higher then the front.
I think the PO might have re geared it at sometime. When I'm running down the highway at 70mph i'm turning 2500rpm on my tac.
I'll try and gets some pics of the xj up sometime today.

is that on stock tires? I do 2500RPM at 70-75 on stock tires and gears.

Did a little more work to the XJ.

Gave the old girl a tune up. The old sparkplugs gap was like .065 they where pretty shot.
Will be ordering front and rear bumpers in the next couple weeks .
I'm going with the jc bumpers because they seem to tie into to the frame better than the other bumpers I have looked at and they have free shipping.
Will post pics of the bumper install.

Took a few pics of the xj today.
Also got some new coil spring isolators I ended up putting them on with the old one's and it added about an inch of lift in the front.
Tried uploading pics but it wont let me for some reason.
Also went ahead and started prepping for my bumpers. Front bumper went pretty smooth but the back bumper every bolt broke except for two. So I guess ill have to drill and tap the rest of them out.

Ordered some wheels and tires for the XJ this morning from 4 wheel parts.
31x10.50x15 irok nd on pro comp d windows with center caps.
Mounted and balanced and shipped for 759.38 not to bad. I will see if they fit when they get here but i'm most likely going to have to do some trimming.

Well last night I picked up the 3in zone offroad lift kit and got it in stalled looks pretty good, now I really cant wait for my tires to get here. It doesn't look to bad with the 235 on it.
Man the rear shock bolt kicked my butt.
Still cant post pics. Keeps telling me security token not found. Whatever that means.

Well got a e-mail today from 4 wheel part and my tires are on back order for 1 to 2 weeks before they even see them. That make it even longer before I get them pretty ***** but what can you do.
Just wish they would have let me know sooner.
At least ill get them before the first real trail run this year. Still a lot of snow on the ground around here.
Going to be a big change for me coming from a 73 1 ton locked and loaded full caged k5 with 40s on propane to a xj with 31s. If anyone has any reviews or flexed pics of an xj with the 3in zone lift kit id like to see pics or here how the kit has been treating you.

Last night my leaf spring bushings came in so I headed out to the garage to put them in everything was going great until the last spring.
I was pressing out the old bushing and the spring eye broke in half,Lucky for me I live in the great state of MN and iron rock offroad is just up the road from me. I picked up there 3.5in rear leafs they are 1in longer than stock xj spring and help out with the bad rear shackle angle. They ride nice and I gained 4.5in of lift my guise is they will settle around 4in. For now I put around 200lbs in the back of the xj to help them settle.

The XJ is in the garage sitting on jack stands waiting on tires. Didn't end up getting the irok nd because they are still on back order and sense the jeep with see more road then trails I went with bfg ko's 33x10.50. Going to have to do some trimming to get them to fit.

Got the 33x10.50s on last night only had to trim the front.
I like the look of 3in lift on 33s just wish I could post pics still keep getting an error.
Anybody have any idea of what tire pressure to run. I started at 33psi then dropped it down to 28psi and the tire still looks over inflated. Im running them on the stock steel wheels.

Put new u-joints in the front axle today.
The previse owner threw me a loop and the front axle are different long side has the bigger u-joint short side has the smaller u-joint. So ill be searching for some axle that match for spares.

Cut the old rusted muffler off today.
Didn't put anything special back on just a factory replacement walker muffler.
The jeep is almost silent.
I didn't want to spend big money on something that's going to get smashed in by rocks so the cheaper the better.
Still on the fence about cutting and folding my rear finders.
Also got the front inner fenders painted black and tock care of the pinch weld .

Got some more work done on the old jeep last weekend.
Cut and folded the rear fenders and painted the fenders. Still have some work to do before next weekend wheeling trip. Need to install tow hooks.
