My 2001 Xj
Hey everybody, names Jake. When I turned 16 last June I bought my uncle's black 2000 cherokee with 196,xxx miles for $3,000...but then I wrecked it in early October. I was going about 45~50 on a back road with a lot of gravel, slid off the road on a corner and hit a concrete culvert. But because of that, I now have this nicer yellow Jeep with a lot less rust. I thought I'd post my little build of it now that I finally have something worth sharing. Found this 2001 Cherokee on craigslist for $2,000, and talked them down to $1,500. Only reason I got it so cheap because the motor was shot, the interior was nasty, and they needed it gone from their apartment parking lot.
This is what it looked like when we picked it up. Almost no rust, even underneath.
I started taking out the interior because the PO had spilled all kinds of stuff on the carpet and it just smelled terrible.
I bed lined the floor and swapped in the interior from the parts jeep.
While waiting for the new motor to get here, checked the brakes and painted the drums. Also changed the fluid in everything and painted the diff covers, valve cover, intake, and the fender flares got painted with bed liner.
After about 2 and a half weeks of waiting. The motor came in.
Got it dropped in the next day.
Finally got to take it for a drive and clean it up.
Bought some more bed liner and painted the bumpers.
When we got some snow last month, I took it out and had some fun.
Couldn't get any traction to go higher
Rock pile
That's my friends Comanche. He is the only other person in my town that I know with a lifted Jeep that actually gets it dirty.
My friend with the Comanche talked me into doing a little mudding last Friday.
Could have flexed more but the front sway bar was attached and I still have a rear sway bar on for now
Just some other pictures of it.
We got it done in late October and it has been running great and has almost 3,000 miles on it now.
I just ordered some JCR stage 3 sliders on Friday.
The next few things to do are:
Remove the faded trim on the side
Bed line underneath
Intake
Exhaust

Thank you, I'm going to try to keep this updated the best I can.
We don't know what brand the lift is and the Guy we bought it from thought it had a body lift...but I guess he didn't know much about Cherokees. So what ever lift it has on it now has been on it for at least 5 years. It has a control arm drop, probably 4" coils and 4.5" leaf springs.

Got the sliders primered tonight and started taking the trim off.
The passenger side is done and I'm doing the other side tomorrow.
I was surprised at how well it cleaned up.
