i decided i want to make my xj just my camping and dogpark rig. so i bought this 2wd comanche to build for my crawler. i plan to make it a twin to my xj. i have built two other comanches, one with a chevy 350, and i regreted selling both of them.

plans include but not limited to:
5.5'' re lift from parts i have layin around
37'' mtrs
full widths from my xj
97+ front clip
dove tailed or bobbed bed
exo cage in the front (not sure what i want to do with the rear)
bucket seats
4 point harnesses
sunroof
custom bumpers
winch
ax-15
np231
and im sure a whole lot more!!!!!

yesterday i got the front doors and front clip off of a 2001 cherokee.....spent half the day putting on the new front clip.

this was a bare bones mj......so i installed the front doors off of the 2001 xj. now the wing window i hate so much is gone and now i have power windows....2 wire hook up.

the door strike on a 96 and earlier is designed completely different, so i had to put the newer strikes on the mj. they also mount in a little different spot, so there is no real good way to attatch the using hardware. luckily, i already ran into this prob on my xj, so i ended up just welding the new strikes on.

trimmed the front and rear fenders.

picked up a set of 5 37'' mtrs, rubicon h.d. track bar and mount, and also a set of 7.5'' coils for my xj.

i flexed my xj on a bunch of tires in my driveway til my coil stared to drop out of the bucket. i pulled the 5.5 inch coils and 2'' spacers out of the xj and installed the 7.5 inch coils in thier place.

i only want 5.5 inches of lift on the mj.....so i figured i would have full spring lifts on both the mj and xj.

i got the rear of the mj sprung over and all the stock front suspension off........gonna finish up the lift today.

i will post up progress pics later today.

needless to say i got a whole bunch done yesterday!!!

i will re-do the floors once it is lifted.....i hate bending over for long periods of time...i have ruptured vertabre in my back 3 times now, so it gets a little uncomfy.

got the lift all finished up after work on thursday. got the bed bobbed yesterday!!!! took out 9.5'' of the back of the bed.......looks sick!!!!

gonna try out bondo for the first time ever......have to smooth over where i welded the bed back together. it looks good, but not good enough.

with only 5.5'' lift and 37's, the comanche turned out just as tall as my xj with 7.5'' and 37's.......must be the exo weighing my xj down.

i added some pics today.....

gonna be rhino lining all but the doors and fenders.

i am debating really hard on pulling the full widths out of the xj to go into the mj so i think i will run a poll on what to do.

Just a little advise, redo that Bondo with Dura-Glass it's a water proof Bondo/Fiber-glass mix. Works just like Bondo but don't absorb water..

I found this out the hard way on my old Sameri.

Looks good. And every time I see a MJ build makes me want to build one..
