Brown Santa arrived yesterday!
I got the Rusty's steering box brace installed and I have to say, I'm really impressed with the quality and fitment. I did'nt realize I was a bit off on the angle of the brackets around the box in relationship to the bracket (until I took pictures) but that should'nt be more than a simple adjustment. [ATTACH]

I've also been spending a little time refinishing my wheels and dressing them up a bit. I tore up two of my wheels pretty good on the last Moab trip so I picked up a set of Pro comp soft 8 type wheels from a buddy. They had some rust and trail rash, but overall were in good shape, where as I like my XJ to have a clean look, I decided to put in the effort to clean em up a bit. A good sanding with 80 grit sandpaper and about 3 coats of Duplicolor Bed Armor bedliner has led to what I feel is a pretty good result.
Next I thought I'd work on a roof basket. I did'nt like the prices most companies were charging so I started searching. I really liked the one Warthog built so I built one very similar. Total cost, $90 made out of conduit coated with self etching primer and bedliner. It's stout. The main reasons for this mod were 1. Cherokees just look cool with a rack. 2. A place to mount some lights. 3. To get the spare out of the cargo area.
In retrospect, the lights up there are only good for seeing far in front of you (great if you wanna bomb desert roads at night, which I do), and the spare on the roof I don't care for too much, it just kills gas mileage and makes you more uneasy when off camber. I've since placed my spare back in the cargo area.

This http://rustysoffroad.com/mm5/merchan...y_Code=xj_skid was how I dealt with the slight vibes I had at 3".

Brown Santa dropped off a box of goodies from Clayton Offroad today! Can you say beefy?
Currie Johnny joints & jam nuts, Clayton tube inserts & Thermite bushings & housings.
I was also informed today by a guy I work with that his brother left his TIG welder with him while he's bumming around China and we can use it to build the arms. Looks like I might be ditching work a little early this week to go steel shopping.

Ha ha, actually I suck at welding, fortunately the dude who's in posession of the TIG knows how to use it (His bro runs a company that makes custom swing arms for quads and he learned from him) My part in the project will be getting all the stuff together, measurements and prep for welding. I would'nt trust my welding to hold my CB antenna on. Lol!

Probably a month out, I need to get the longarms built, figure out and install limiting straps and get the bushwackers and the extended brakelines on and then I should be good to go!
Thank you.
Thank you.
