The spare won't fit layed out on the floor in the rear cargo area?

Got my spare today and as it turns out it does indeed fit (barely) lying flat in the cargo area. I'll have to rethink some of my trail storage to work around it, but that'll be easy.

Gratuitous before and after, mostly for my own enjoyment. Had I not met such a great bunch of people to wheel with and to give me inspiration as I got back into this sport, I dont think there would be anyway we'd be where we are today. Thanks guys (you know who you are I hope).

What about a false floor storage thing? Like have the tire underneath and have everything secured in like a tool box with drawers or something?

I like that idea, and was leaning towards that, but.......
a false floor tall enough to cover a 12.50 would end up sitting about four inches below the top of the seat back of the rear seat. Not really a false floor at that height. I'm thinking some added D-rings to strap the tire down to the floor of the cargo area. I'll then just find some different solutions as far as carrying all the tools, fluids, etc. Right now I run a standard size rubbermaid tote (juices, parts, repair manual), a 200 piece Craftsmen tool kit and a couple of Craftsman tool bags for other tools that might come in handy.
Tool bags and tools could easily be strapped to the top of the spare, on the hunt for a container that can fit between the spare and the pass side for all the other stuff for now.

I almost forgot to update. My DW although slightly better after correcting toe-in was not completely eliminated.
When I installed the double shear track bar I left the track bar drop bracket that came with my origional lift, yeah, turns out that was a stupid idea. I yanked that sucker off a couple weeks ago, and steering seems to be right back where it should be.
Man, I hate when my own tinkering causes me more headaches!
Now we sit around waiting for Bushwacker to send me flat flairs, its gonna be a long four weeks, sigh.

Just pulled the trigger on this bad boy. http://www.rustysoffroad.com/rustys-...-brace-xj.html
Seems like Rusty's is getting slightly more reasonable on their shipping recently. I figured it might be good preventative medicine since installing the bigger tires. I've learned from others experience that once the box F's up the unibody it just goes downhill from there.

Passenger side, just behind the front crossmember. If you click on the link and then on the install instructions, theres a picture that gives a pretty good idea of its placement.

Coming from Clayton offroad, Clevite bushings, DOM bushing housings, 4 Johnny joints, jam nuts & tube inserts. A handfull of bolts, some steel and some beefier LCA mounts and we'll be ready to long arm this beast!
