Ok well i have been looking all over craigslist for a nice clean jeep. I was preferably looking for a 5-speed but it wasnt that big of a deal. I found a 1999 cherokee Xj limited for $2750. It had 190k on it but it had an engine swap done with an engine that had 130k. I decided to go look at it and was really excited. I get there and i knew i wasnt leaving without that cherokee. It had a few little dents and scratches but not too many but the best part was it had no rust anywere!! i look underneath and it had been undercoated and it looked pretty good for a 12 year old jeep. I test drove it and it drove way better than i thought it would. So i wanted it. So my dad (the bargaining genious) talked him down to 2200 for me. so i went home in a new/old jeep!!

Ok well first of all those tires need to go!
My plans are-
1. New Tires!
2. 2 inch lift
3. New Center Caps for the rims. (rusty)
4. Roof Rack
5. Off Road Lights
6. Winch Bumper
7. Rough Country Winch
8. Fix My Power Windows. (Passenger ones wont open with the switch on their doors.
The rest i will just do as i feel like it! I will prolly find random things along the way on craigslist that i cant pass up!

Ok so you guys saw how badly i needed tires. I wanted some bfg a/t's but my dad works at firestone so i get a 40% discount so i had to go with some Firestone Destination A/T's. I actually really like the look of them so we will see how they do off-road.

Man does that jeep look sporty. I think its the totally red grill & trim.
First thing I thought of when I saw it was the Le-Mans blue jeep that someone has over on naxja.
Very nice find...Good luck on your build.

great find! lucky that you get such a good deal on tires, but you should have gone with the destination m/t. 3 of my friends have the a/ts and they dont last long, nor do they do good off road. but your right, they look good.
and imo i think you should pant the grill and light baezels black, bedline the rockers and remove side molding, but that just me.

I have the same tires. I did a little muddin and they did fine. I have only had them a few months tho so i cant say how long they last.
I would like to find a nice rack. I am just not that lucky.

i heard of a lot of people having problems with the aic motor and the throttle body being dirty so i decided to check it out and found this.

I took it off (really easy 4 bolts some plugs and the throttle cables) and cleaned it with a can of throttle body cleaner i got at auto zone for about 5 bucks. I took the aic motor off of the throttle body and cleaned that too. I used a toothbrush for everything and you need to make sure you dont pull on the little plunger on the aic motor or you will break it! and also dont use carb cleaner! the chemicals are too harsh for a throttle body. when i got everything bolted back up and i started it i noticed it idled a lot smoother! best $5 ive spent on my jeep yet!!

i took my jeep to autozone today for two reasons. My check engine light came one and i wanted him to check and see what was wrong and i was curious to see how my alternator was doing. And of course being an xj owner both things turned out to cost me money. When he checked the check engine light the results were totally wacko. It told him that stuff i had i didnt have and that bassically everything was messed up so he told me my computer is goin out. and he told me my alternator is overcharging that is why my fan spins so fast i can hear it over my radio inside.
i found computers on ebay for about 80 bucks and alternators are about 50 so its not too bad but that just delays all my plans hahah
