I got some work done on it today. I changsd the valve cover gasket with the felpro blue rubber one. I used seafoam in the brake booster vacume hose and in the crankcase. I did notice a little drop in the oil pressure but nothing below 37 or 38 lbs. It was always around 40 or above before. The xj smoked for about 10 minutes after I used it in the brake booster. I put about 30 oz of 134 freon in it. It gets cooler but not cold any tips would be helpful. I think the oil is leaking around the oil filter any tips on a gasket kit please post a link or part # my computer has fried and I'm down to posting on our old crappy tablet so I can't search for anything unless I have an hour to kill. I also have a few pics to post when we get around to getting a new laptop. Thanks :-)

If you go to a parts store and ask for the oil filter adapter o ring kit they will only give you the large round one. There are 3 o rings in the OEM kit. If you want all three you will have to go to the dealership. A lot of guys I talk to let me know that after they changed that, it solved there oil leak problem. Better to start with the cheap repairs first.

Your saying I should go to the dealership and get the three o rings? If that's the case I'm as good as there. Thanks buddy.

Yes I believe when I checked they were no more than 8 bucks. Also suggest to read the write up on changing them out. Very helpful. It's just a P.I.T.A to get the adapter off.

Thanks I may wait on the gasket kit I checked and I don't see any oil leaking as of now. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I made a trip to the junk yard and scored what I think to be some good stuff. I got new windshield wipers, radiator hose that still has the sticker on it for a spare, another stock radio mine only had Am, all four door panels in great condition and last but not least I found two very good condition vent windows for the front windows. I think everyone should have the vent windows they move so much air I was almost cold on the way to work. I should be shopping for some parts in the next few weeks so stay tuned. I think I may go back for the transfercase to swap out and fix the one that is leaking for a spare. Its good to have a U-pull it half a mile from my front door.

I havent updated in a bit but here is a little update. I got great condition caps for all four corners painted them and slapped them on. I picked up a fat bobs Garage 3" lift from a guy on craigslist for $60 bucks. It was still in the box with the receipt. Its the lift with 3" spacers for the front and a add a leaf for the rear. Its not on the truck yet still waiting on some funds to build up for wheels and tires. I fixed the windshield wiper spray nozzles. The hose was broken and it was fixed in 5 minutes. I also got my build sheet for my truck here it is.

Looking good. It's amazing how well those vent windows work isnt it? I've decided to turn my AC compressor into on board air since I really would only use AC a couple months out of the year and the wing windows work just as good.

Interested to see how the monstaliner holds up. I may order some myself.

On board air is a great idea. I need my a/c down here in Florida. I'm looking forward to the cold weather in a few months because the heat coming from the floor will feel good but it is so hot to not have the floor covered. I will have to come up with a way to have some carpet on the floor during the summer. The vent windows help out a great deal but its a lot of heat.

I'm sorry if I missed this, but how many gallons of montaliner did you buy for the interior? I'm planning on doing mine and I was thinking one gallon would be enough.

Sorry I haven't logged on in a while. You could do the inside with one gallon. That is 3 or four coats. Hope it works out for you.

Sorry, I do have an update. I have so much that I have done to my XJ since I last posted I cant remember it all. I need to get off my duff and get caught up with pics. A short list of some of the things I need to get pics of-
fat bobs garage 3" budget lift
new 33" mudstars
used NP231 transfercase
new injectors (blue tip four hole)
used seats
used seat belts
new flooring
cut fenders front
cut and fold fenders rear
bump stops rear
high lift jack but I need to make brackets to mount it on the hood.

After driving down to hard rock in ocala and wheeling and then driving back in 80* weather and almost died of heat stroke. Long story short I decided to buy a flooring kit from automotive interiors and acc. The molded kit that is made of vinyl. It was the best $140 I have spent on her. It comes with some thin insulation. It works great. I have gone back down to hard rock on a day that was as hot if not hotter and I stayed cool all day. When I turn the A/C on it gets cold in the the truck now. I also live in Florida so you could get away no flooring if you live in a mild climate area.
