stock steering box. almost looks like it's shaped around the winch.. haha

My only concern with that is if the winch spools thick in the center I'd have my rope rubbing on the pulley. That may never happen but I'd like the extra comfort room. Plus, the motor on my winch isn't near as long. It should fit a little better width wise.

Lookin good!
thanks man!

Got it rolling!

Maybe make a curved piece of sheet, that follows the contour of where the rope is to go, a shield between the pulley.
Id make it mount to the 2 bars on the winch.

Not a bad idea.

Then I'd be concerned about mud getting trapped there.

I try avoid mud as much as possible but sometimes it's not possible. I have to take extra care of my rope and I'd rather not have to completely unspool it everytime it get's dirty.

So where is the winch actually bolted to? Hard to tell.

It's bolted to the stock cross member AND the bumper winch plate. The cross member is sandwiched between the winch and the bumper.

Hey, I wanted to thank you for the write up on the electric fan! Also I took it one step further and wired in a diode on the blue/pink wire and also added another relay for a second electric fan to replace the clutch fan... (clutch fan wouldn't work with the winch) and had to wire in two diodes on the coil side of the relay because I was getting some back feed... anyway... thanks for the idea!

well after pulling another all niter I got a ton more stuff done... along with wiring up the fans I got the arb compressor, lights and winch wired and the fenders all welded up and the rear bumper finished.. it seems like even though I'm getting more stuff done there's more things that come up... I have to relocate the battery now since there was no place to mount the winch controller... so that took the batteries place.. it was kinda inevitable though since I'm going to have to cut the front inner fenders to make the 37's work anyway..

well enough talk here's some pics..

Awesome fab skills. I need to get a welder and start learning to weld, so maybe I can fab my own stuff.
